When you RSVP, it will tell you if your invitation includes a plus-one. While we would love to have everyone we know and their significant other to attend, we have a hard limit on our venue capacity and have to stick to it.
While we would love to have all the kids join in on the fun, it just isn't feasible with our venue and guest limit. For those reasons we have chosen to keep our wedding adults only and appreciate your understanding!
Of course not! We encourage guests to wear whatever feels most comfortable. If you would like to wear Indian attire for the wedding there are plenty of options to choose from. Women typically wear lehengas or sarees while men might wear kurtas or suits. A classic suit or dress is just as welcome and won't be out of place whatsoever.
If you'd like to wear an Indian outfit and aren't sure where to look, we have a few recommendations: • NYC: There are many shops in Jackson Heights and South Richmond Hill, Queens that offer a variety of options, as well as Journal Square in Jersey City, NJ. • Minneapolis: NM Designs in Northeast Minneapolis. • Online: There are tons of options available online! You will just need to know your measurements to get something that fits right.
The ceremony will be conducted by a Pandit (priest) and consists of traditional elements such as the Jaimala (garland exchange) and the Pheras where the couple takes seven steps around a sacred fire, with each step representing a vow they make to each other. We plan to have a more modern adaptation of the ceremony to fit our values. The Pandit will provide translations of the Sanskrit rituals and explanations throughout the ceremony. The ceremony should last roughly 45 minutes.
The Mehndi ceremony is held the day before the wedding ceremony. The bride's hands and feet are decorated with henna and it symbolizes love, prosperity, joy, and good fortune. Guests are invited to have their own henna done on their hands during this event. While traditionally done for women, it is common to see men have small designs done on their hands. We welcome everyone to take part!
The ceremony will take place outdoors in the venue's garden. Average temperatures in New York at this time of year typically range from a high of approximately 60°F to 64°F to a low of 39°F to 44°F. The ceremony will be completed well before sunset. Cocktail hour will take place both outside in the garden and indoors in the adjacent gallery space. The reception will be held upstairs in the theatre space.
We will be offering a large Indian buffet with a wide variety of delicious appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be available. A small Mexican station will also be available for added variety.
Please reach out if you have a specific food allergy and we will do our best to accommodate you. As Zach has Celiac, the majority of options will be gluten free aside from breads and a few sides. Dishes will be labeled with common allergens.
