Question

What Should I Expect Going Into a Hindu Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

Our Hindu wedding ceremony is a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with music, color, and tradition. The day begins with the Baraat, a joyful procession as the groom arrives with family and friends, accompanied by music and dancing, followed by the bride’s family welcoming him and offering blessings. Key rituals include the Kanyadaan, where the bride is given away by her parents, the tying of the sacred mangalsutra, the Havan (sacred fire ceremony), and the Saptapadi, in which the couple takes seven steps together, each representing a sacred vow. The ceremony concludes with the application of sindoor and blessings from family and friends, followed by a delicious vegetarian meal and celebration.

Question

What Should I Wear to a Hindu Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

Bright, celebratory colors are encouraged. Jewel tones such as emerald, sapphire, royal blue, gold, pink, orange, and teal are all wonderful choices. We kindly ask that guests refrain from wearing red, as this color is traditionally reserved for the bride. Traditional Indian attire for women include a saree, lehenga, anarkali, or salwar kameez. Traditional options for men include a kurta-pajama or sherwani. At the end of the day, your comfort matters most to us. Please wear whatever helps you feel confident and relaxed, while also maintaining the Indian tradition. We are ecstatic for you to celebrate this special day alongside us!

Question

What Should I Expect Going Into a Christian Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

Our Christian wedding ceremony will be a meaningful and traditional exchange of vows, surrounded by family and friends. After the exchange of vows, guests will be ushered to a cocktail hour where they can enjoy a myriad of cuisines alongside an open bar. The evening will then flow into a seated dinner and dancing as we celebrate the beginning of our married life together!

Question

What Should I Wear to a Christian Wedding Ceremony?

Answer

Our Christian wedding ceremony will be black-tie, and we invite our guests to dress for a formal and celebratory evening. Black-tie attire reflects the elegance of the occasion and helps create a timeless atmosphere for our celebration. For women, black-tie typically includes a floor-length gown or an elegant formal dress. For men, black-tie traditionally means a tuxedo, or a dark formal suit paired with a dress shirt and formal shoes. Please refrain from wearing white, as this color is traditionally reserved for the bride. Above all, we want you to feel comfortable and confident. Please choose attire that allows you to enjoy the evening while honoring the formality of the occasion—we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
