Most couples like to think their romance was written in the stars. Meg and Stephen can go one step further. Not only was their romance written in the stars, it was also recorded on a Google Sheets spreadsheet, created by Stephen after their first promising date. Everywhere they went, everything they did, every new emotion and milestone – it’s all there for posterity. It makes writing their love story pretty easy. Date one was May 27, 2022. They’d been matched up on OkCupid when Meg was away for a teacher training and Stephen was taking a work break in a Vermont cabin with his two Siamese cats in tow. They were delighted to find out they lived in the same neighborhood, Mission Hill, so grabbing ice cream at J.P. Licks and walking around Olmsted Park was the perfect date on that hot and humid Friday night. The time flew by as they walked around Jamaica Pond, eventually feeling comfortable enough to *gasp!* sit next to each other in Meg’s favorite U-shaped Hincman’s bench. It was dark by the time Stephen walked Meg to her apartment stoop but they were both sparkling, equal parts sweat and first date glow. They spent that dreamy summer in a little bubble of happiness before starting to introduce each other to their friends and family toward the end of August. Each date felt more magical than the last and city girl Meg’s world was expanding as most of their dates were an hour-plus drive out of Boston. One of their favorites was the ninth one, which was entry 15 on the spreadsheet since Stephen recorded all “hang-outs” to Meg’s amusement. This was a Friday night at the Lavender Farm Fest in Holden, Mass. Meg had all the feels as she and Stephen cut lavender and watched the sun set. They played only R.E.M. on the drive home, starting a tradition of focusing on one band or artist on each adventure. In early September, Stephen played a big role helping Meg move into her 300 square foot studio behind Symphony Hall. It was Meg’s first time living without roommates and also her first time in a building without laundry machines, so Friday night laundry dates became the next phase of their journey. September also marked their first trip together, a long weekend in Vermont for Stephen’s birthday. October began with a big family reunion with Meg's extended family in DC, combined with a stay at Stephen’s sister and brother-in-law’s house in northern Virginia. Meg and Stephen confessed their love for each other by December, after holiday parties and picking out a Christmas tree together confirmed what they had been feeling for months. While celebrating their first date anniversary in coastal Maine, Meg and Stephen decided to test their relationship by having Meg move in to Stephen's condo that fall. Friends and family started wondering when they would tie the knot, but Meg and Stephen set a goal of living together for at least a year before any proposals. They felt so grateful to travel extensively during their “test the waters” time, including amazing trips to Latvia, Sweden, Finland, Colorado, California, the Outer Banks, and Iceland, never too far from a lake, ocean, or hot tub! By the end of summer 2024, they were both fully ready to get engaged so they spent the fall looking at rings and getting marriage blessings from their parents. While their engagement almost happened at a waterfall in Vermont, Stephen ended up proposing to Meg on a quiet Winthrop Beach in early November. It was just minutes before visiting their close friends for a Love is Blind wedding watch party, so the casual hang suddenly included tears and excitement! May 16, 2026 will be the last entry on the spreadsheet and the beginning of a wonderful life together. Meg and Stephen can’t wait to celebrate the happy occasion with their beloved family and friends!
