Charlie's is an easy, go-to spot for coffee, pastries, and other quick food options. Grab and go or sit outside at one of their tables!
We came here the morning after Eric proposed for a deliciously filling, country-style breakfast. It's a quaint little diner located at the top of a set of stairs—totally worth it if you're after some sourdough pancakes or the "hungry hiker" special!
Classic deli with fresh, thoughtful options — the BLT is a Meg favorite.
Enjoy wood-fired pizzas, unique cocktails, and a seasonal, farm-fresh menu outside at The Crooked Ram. Entrance to "The Yard" is to the left of the building, but if you get here early enough, you can go inside the cafe for some homemade pastries (which are wildly delicious). But be quick—we also hear they sell out fast!
We had our first dinner as an engaged couple here, right after Eric proposed. Once a library, this intimate, dinner-only restaurant has one of the most unique menus we have ever seen (get the Cabot cheese balls!).
One of our favorite hikes—described as "moderate," the 4.6-mile roundtrip hike leads you to a beautiful, 125-foot tall waterfall. The hike itself doesn't get especially steep, in our opinion. Think of it as a steady climb (with some flatter parts as well). If it's been especially rainy, this hike can get rather muddy, so be warned!
If you find yourself in the mood for fresh vegetables, fruit, or flowers, stop by our all-time favorite farm stand! In the summer, we come here every time we venture to Vermont (and often multiple times in said trip).
The cutest, sweetest bookstore you ever did see — and looks can be deceiving, because this is also one of the biggest bookstores we ever did see.
Some highlights: Eileen Fisher, J. Crew, Le Creuset, Pendleton, Ralph Lauren, Simon Pearce, Theory. (Meg's favorite is Le Creuset, obviously)
Tour Robert and Mary Lincoln's summer home, built at the turn of the twentieth century. Robert was the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to maturity. He first visited Manchester in the summer of 1864 when he came to the Equinox Hotel (where we're getting married and where you might be staying!!). Fun fact: the garden has more than 1,000 peony blossoms—Meg's favorite flower!
