In July 2018 Meg and Michael both were invited to a mutual friend's birthday party (thanks for being born, Ben Schaffels). It was at a local sushi restaurant and Ben had invited friends from both college and work...Michael being from his college days and Meg being a colleague. Michael walked in the door and Meg swears it was love at first sight. After asking for more information on the dreamy mystery man, she quickly learned that he was in a relationship. Immediate devastation. Michael and Meg never met or spoke that night. Meg simply admired him from afar, and went home to gush over him (and stalk him on Instagram) with her roommate, Lexie. Fast forward over a year later, in true millennial fashion, they connected on Instagram, she learned he was recently single, and so their cheesy love story began. ♥
Anyone that knows Meg knows that there are very few things she loves more than New York City and Christmas time. So, when Michael told Meg he wanted to plan a trip to NYC for the first week of December she was absolutely over the moon. They planned a week-long trip in the city, doing all of the Christmas related tourist activities you could imagine. That Thursday was the first full day they had in New York and Michael planned a fun filled day in Central Park (Meg's favorite NYC attraction). They had a lovely lunch at the Boat House, walked up to the MOMA, and then he surprised her with a romantic carriage ride through Central Park. If we're being honest, Meg had a hunch that a proposal was most likely going to happen on this trip (Michael really isn't a good liar - one of the many things Meg loves most about him), but she had no idea where, when or how he was going to pop the question. Halfway through the carriage ride, the coachman had the horse stop at the infamous "Friends" fountain (Meg's all time favorite TV show, and one that they spent a majority of their free time watching together when they first started dating). They got out of the carriage for a quick picture, Michael grabbed Meg's hands, got down on one knee, and the moment Meg had dreamed of her whole life officially happened. Michael even referenced Friends during the proposal, saying that he had finally found the Monica to his Chandler, and most importantly...his lobster. *CUE THE TEARS* It was, by far, the easiest "yes" she's ever said...and the best day, ever.
