His Story: After 6 years of being with Megan, I began planning the proposal that she deserved. I knew I wanted to propose to Megan in Scotland, where both of our families have ties. Plus, if she said no, I could just leave her there! I bought us plane tickets for vacation, and at the same time, contacted the great Edinburgh Castle, where I hoped to propose in the Minstrel Gallery balcony overlooking the Great Hall. Months later, several days into exploring Scotland, we arrived in Edinburgh. We signed up to tour the castle, and found our way to the Great Hall. There was a long line of tourists to get in, and Megan actually suggested we skip it! Once inside, I notified the staff that I was interested in “getting a better look at the paintings in the gallery," which was code to get us escorted up to the balcony. We were shown up the ancient spiral staircase and left alone at a large wooden door. Pushing the door open, the balcony was filled with candles, roses, and champagne. I got down on one knee and asked Megan to marry me! Her Story: I was super stoked to visit Scotland, because John had always raved about how amazing it was. Once we arrived, we had such an incredible time exploring castles and lochs and listening to bagpipes. Mid-week, we arrived in Edinburgh, which really is a magical city. I do remember John acting funny that day, and I even suggested we go back to the Airbnb if he was sick! We headed to the castle for our tour, and found ourselves in the Great Hall. I caught John talking to a staff member, and he told me they were going to allow us to check out the balcony! I thought it was funny, because no one else was up there, but followed him up some massive stone stairs. At the top, John led me to a grand wooden door. Walking through I saw dozens and dozens of candles, and before I could say anything, John handed me a rose and got down on one knee!
