In September 2018, Sam attended a party at his friends' Lincoln Park apartment. Megan headed out that night with her girlfriends to attend that same party. When they arrived, one petite yet striking woman caught Sam’s eye—Megan. They instantly connected and stayed by each other’s side until the group headed to a bar. During a brief separation in different Ubers, they couldn’t stop asking their friends about each other and soon reunited at the bar, sparking an instant connection that lasted. Sam and Megan began dating soon after & a couple of years later, they adopted their rescue dog, Samson! In March 2023, they settled into their Bucktown apartment enjoying cozy nights by the fireplace, dining at their favorite neighborhood spot, Club Lucky, and strolling with Samson along The 606 trail. On April 20th, 2024, Sam convinced Megan they were headed to his parents' house for brunch. Beforehand, they walked Samson around Watts Park near where he grew up. At the bench honoring his late father, Larry, Sam dropped to one knee and proposed! Laughing and crying with pure joy, Megan said yes. The "brunch" turned into a surprise celebration with both families & that night, they toasted with friends at their favorite Chicago dive bar, Lottie’s.
