Flight
The earlier you book your flight, the better rate you will get. Flights should be available by February 2026. If you're able to, I recommend booking it then. We usually connect to Newark or Atlanta and we prefer to fly Delta or United. We recommend flying in a few days before the wedding to decrease the Jet Lag and be celebration ready. 1 Week - 2 Weeks is the best recommendation for a flight that is this long. Make it your New Years Holiday Dream Vacation (but remember it's Summer in South Africa)! Now, we know this flight is long and there are options you could choose to help. 1. Straight flight, 16 hours, get there done and dusted. Jaene and I prefer the straight flight to minimize travel time and recover while on vacation. 2. Break up the flight with a stop at another destination. You could take a pitstop in the UK, etc. and do a straight flight on the way back or vice versa. -Remember to prepare your Passports in advance. -Move around during your flight, wear compression socks and stay hydrated.
Rental Car
Cape Town is easiest to travel by car. They do drive on the opposite side of the road as well as the opposite side of the car but they do not have public transit. They DO have uber and it is 1/4 of the uber prices you pay in America. If you're looking to sitesee on your own accord we recommend the rental car. Otherwise, Uber will be absolutely fine to use. Depending on when you get in from the airport, we can always arrange family to come pick you up as well. Just let us know:)
House Or Rental
There is housing on the venue property that you can book into. They are cute, clean, cottage style and all self catering. We recommend this so that you don't have to worry about traveling after a few drinks and you can stay for more of the fun. Also, they offer free breakfast to all guests on site, and it is delicious! **To book you can inquire directly with the Reservations Manager Fierouza Valentyn at reservations@webersburg.co.za** Just let them know you're with the Jaene & Megan party on Jan. 2nd 2027. :) For a budget friendly option, we recommend staying at an Airbnb. This would be great to stay within close distance to the venue and you can house multiple people. If you're interested in an Airbnb, use the website Lekker Slaap and the location of Stellenbosch. https://www.lekkeslaap.co.za/ **Use a VPN to book all accommodation, it will be cheaper if they think you are a local in South Africa. If you need assistance you can reach out to Jaene and I** The location is Stellenbosch, one of the most popular vineyard areas with many beautiful accommodations, wineries and restaurants. It is about 30 minutes from the airport and other tourist attractions. We recommend flying in a few days before the wedding to decrease the Jet Lag and be celebration ready. 1 Week - 2 Weeks is the best recommendation for a flight that is this long. Make it your New Years Holiday Dream Vacation (but remember it's Summer in South Africa)! Here are different options: 1. Stay in Cape Town close to the city for a few nights to visit Table Mountain, the penguins, and Cape Point. Then travel to the venue/air bnb for the weekend. 2. Stay in Stellenbosch or even Franschhoek area for the week and uber/drive to tourist attractions. 3. You can also organize an entire Safari if you wanted. Visit the Aquila Safari Private Game Reserve for a few nights. Then travel to Cape Town for more tourist activities and the wedding in Stellenbosch.
Hotel
We are working on our hotel blocks but absolutely love this Marriot hotel, just 9 minutes from the venue and they include breakfast :)
