On a brisk Saturday afternoon in January Sam decided to venture out on the town to meet up with some hospital colleagues and watch Tom Brady dominate the AFC playoffs. Now Sam would have been watching the game had he not seen the cutest, most talented physician assistant resident standing behind a table in the corner of the bar with her friends. With plenty of liquid courage Sam introduced himself to Megan and explained the benefit of having the direct phone number of a hospital pharmacist. Think how easy it would be to clarify medication orders now! Fast forward a month. No medications orders were every clarified with Megan's cell phone number. However one first date was planned. Perhaps Megan felt bad for Sam because he said he had no friends to hang out with that weekend. We may never know. Luckily Megan did agree to go to sip and paint (she found out about it 10 minutes before she arrived) and the rest as I say is history. P.S I have the paintings to prove it.

Oh...the engagement....what a story. I believe an engagement is a top 3 life event....right up there with your wedding and the birth of a child. But how does anyone find the right time to pop the question. After consulting with many close friends (one even said to pop the question in the airport), I had reached no consensus on the subject. Therefore I carried the ring with me almost every single day on our vacation in Portugal and Croatia. Talk about sweating bullets....the ring traveled through the Douro Wine Valley, up and down the Champs D'Elysees, to a Michelin star restaurant in Paris, to multiple beautiful outdoor dinners in Croatia....and still I had not found the right time. Then, August 17th....stepping off the cruise ship on a dock in Makarska...the lighting was just right. I got down on one knee, I have no idea what I mumbled but Megan said YES!!!! And off to a magical dinner afterwards and way too many bottles of champagne on the boat that night. Engaged at last!!!
