Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park

Atlanta, GA 30309

Piedmont Park is located right in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. It hosts 180 acres of green space and is a great spot for any and all outdoor activities. With over 500 trees in the park, you don't want to miss the stunning fall foliage that we are lucky enough to get in October. If you want to explore some great local vendors and eats, be sure to check out the Green market there on Saturday mornings. If you want to grab some wings and a beer, Park Tavern overlooks Piedmont Park and has a great view of the city skyline. (Fun fact: We actually met at Park Tavern so needless to say, we are huge fans!!)

Atlanta Beltline- Eastside Trail

Atlanta Beltline- Eastside Trail

Atlanta, GA 30315

The Atlanta Beltline project was started in 2005 and is now one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the United States. The goals of Beltline program were to spur economic development, enhance mobility, foster culture, and improve equitable and inclusive access to economic opportunity. When completed, the Atlanta Beltline will encompass a 22 mile loop of multi-purpose trails and connect 45 neighborhoods! Midtown Atlanta is in closest proximity to The eastside beltline trail. We love walking this trail with our dog Freya and enjoying the open green spaces and temporary art installations along the way. The eastside beltline trail is also home to tons of great bars and restaurants. One of Meg's favorite spots on the beltline is Rina. If you love a beachy frozen cocktail and a great patio, this is the spot for you! One of Hans' favorite spots on the beltline is Hampton and Hudson. Great for watching world series games and has one of the best burgers in town.

Colony Square is a mixed use community located on the corner of 14th street and Peachtree. The square has over 40,000 feet of open air-space and features many wonderful bars, restaurants, and a dine-in movie theatre. This is a great spot to check out if you want to grab a bite or get some work done.

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market

675 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30308

The historic Sears catalogue Building (built in the early 1920's) was converted to Ponce City Market in 2011 after being vacant for nearly two decades. The retail space officially opened in 2014 and is considered to be the largest adaptive reuse project in the Southeast. Ponce city Market houses around 90 restaurants, stores, and companies in 2.1 million square feet of mixed-use development space. PCM is accessible from the Beltline trail and is nestled in Old Fourth Ward which is close in proximity to many Atlanta neighborhoods including Virginia Highlands, Midtown, Inman Park, Morningside, among others. Meg's favorite restaurant at Ponce is Minero. The cauliflower tacos on their homemade corn tortillas are amazing and pair perfectly with their guacamole or queso dip and a passionfruit margarita. Hans' favorite restaurant is Ton Ton Ramen & Yakitori. His favorite thing to get is their classic Hakata Tonkotsu which pairs well with a Sapporo or one of their Japanese teas.

National Center for Civil and Human Rights

100 Ivan Allen Junior Boulevard Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30313
