How we started

It all started with a flask tie

During my residency training I met my best friend... Teri Thomas! One day Teri and I decided to see a lovely daytime matinee movie and she asked if she could invite her friend Greg. I had no reason to object, so the invite was sent. We decided to eat lunch before, and whilst doing so some guy starts walking toward us with this huge obnoxious maroon and gold striped tie. I thought to myself "who is this joker" when Teri starts waving and calls him over. It was Greg, and his tie also doubled as a flask! I was intrigued! He claims he remembers me in a yellow dress (I do not own anything yellow) and we became fast friends. Team Ghost Mouse was formed that day and continued for years to come.

The saga continues

Circle yes, no or maybe

Over the years, somehow friendship grew into romance (it really snuck up on both of us). Not wanting to disrupt the friend group by dating, I requested Greg ask our friend Teri for her permission before moving forward. Well he did just that! After Teri's glowing words of approval (you're grown adults, do what you want) I received a hand written note from Greg asking me to be his girlfriend and to circle yes no or maybe. Naturally I circled maybe before quickly scratching it out and emphatically circling yes and signing/dating it to make it official. It wasn't until after that Greg told me this counted as a binding contract and I was to be his girlfriend for at least the next year. Bamboozled! Now that contract is a staple in our relationship and we celebrate each anniversary as "contract renewal day" with a new note to sign and everything! We had been dating approximately one month before I broke the news that after graduating fellowship I would be moving down to Charlotte, NC for my new big kid job. Greg's response is something that still makes my heart smile... "Well, I guess we're both moving then". We packed up and moved down south, and even though we would be long distance for years to come, we were bound and determined to make life awesome!

The proposal, and beyond

In my glasses?!

3.5 years in and the proposal was still a huge surprise, so much so that I was caught off-guard wearing my glasses with frizzy hair! Greg popped the question with yet another amazing note for me to sign at the Botanical Gardens Christmas Lights display in Atlanta in front of what I have deemed proposal fountain under millions of lights - best friends secretly in tow to capture all the pictures and video! I would like to say I've never been happier than that day, but every day (well most days, right honey??) seem to get better and better. We can't wait to start our life together as The Wallins!
