Meg and Brian met through mutual friends and their shared love of live music. They both attended Colorado State University, and while it is almost surely true that Meg made Brian many a smothered burrito while working at Cafe Mexicali where he was a frequent customer, they didn't officially meet until they were both living in Denver in 2011. We have seen hundreds of concerts over the years in several countries. Our shared love of Phish and The Disco Biscuits has forged our strong bond and given us invaluable friendships.
Brian is a bonafide science nerd. In 2017, he was consumed with the opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse. He spoke about it constantly, to the point that he was driving me batty with his singular focus on the upcoming celestial event. The day came, and in a field in the middle of nowhere, we watched the moon conceal the sun. Dusk fell in mid-day, and a chill swept across the prairie. I suddenly understood his passionate commitment to us witnessing this together. He held me close as solar rays danced from the edges of the moon's silhouette, both of us with tears in our eyes. Shortly thereafter, he began planning for the next eclipse. Flash forward to 2024, we traveled to Mazatlán, Mexico, a locale declared by NASA to be the best place to witness the eclipse. Unbeknownst to me, he planned to mark the occasion by asking me to be his wife. We made our way to the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean amongst a sea of other excited eclipse chasers. The moon cast her shadow once more, and we frolicked in the waves hand in hand in the sudden darkness. When the sun resumed its place in high in the sky, he led me to the water's edge and dropped to one knee. I always thought I would say something clever or meaningful in that moment, but the wave of emotions stole my words and all I could manage through happy tears was, “YES!” With a new diamond on my left ring finger, we turned to walk back up the beach to a crowd of quite literally hundreds of strangers erupted in cheers. A sweet abuela embraced us as only grandmothers can and wished us a life of happiness in Spanish. A German podcaster interviewed us for his listeners. I can honestly say it wasn’t much of an interview, as I was so overcome with emotion, but nevertheless, we felt the love from everyone on that beach. Our wedding will have a celestial theme to mark the instrumental role the sun and the moon played in our story. In October 2025, we will dine and dance beneath the very same moon, as husband and wife and with you all by our side!
Brian, ever the student, has worked tirelessly to grow his graphic design skills in the past few years. He leveraged his impressive ability to teach himself the ins and outs of Adobe design programs and dove right to to designing the invitations you all received. There are many Easter eggs throughout the design. You’ll notice Brian and Meg’s zodiac symbols in the top corners and if you look closely, the stars near the wedding details towards the bottom of the page are the actual constellations of both Sagittarius and Gemini.
