There are two different versions of how we met. Brads Version: We first met at Hawkeye Park back in 2017. I spotted this cute girl and her dog (6 month year old Bentley) and decided to go say hi. I asked a few “get to know you” questions… and got some very short answers in return (pretty sure I picked up on the “not interested” vibe 😅). Fast forward a year later, fate decided to give us another shot. We ended up randomly on the same volleyball team where I got a little more than one-word answers but not much. In October of 2018, my old boss Thad gave me a friendly push to ask someone to Oktoberfest at Adventureland. I figured, “why not Meg?” One Oktoberfest invite later… and, well, here we are! 🍻💍 Megs Version: Technically, our story starts at Hawkeye Park during a summer sand volleyball game. He remembers it vividly — seeing me and taking a chance to talk to me to ask about my dog. I, on the other hand… have absolutely no memory of meeting him that day. (Oops.)🤷🏻‍♀️ apparently I made quite the impression though 😉 Fast forward a year later, and fate — or maybe just our mutual friends — put us on the same sand volleyball team. This time, I did notice him. At first, I thought he wasn’t interested. We were just friendly teammates — the classic “hi,” “bye,” “nice hit,” “nice set” kind of dynamic. Our first date came a little later at Oktoberfest. Although, I didn’t realize it was a date at first — I thought it was just two friends hanging out. But then he started paying for everything, and I was like, “Wait… is this a date date?” Spoiler alert: it was. And the rest? Well, we’ve been playing on the same team ever since — in volleyball, and in life. 💍👰🏻🤵‍♂️
