After two heartbreaks and several months of friendship, we realized there was more. Since we both agreed that pizza was the best thing ever made, there was no question what we were going to have for dinner on our first date. After a delicious meal, we stopped at a dive bar to kill some time. We made friends with the owner who gave us free drinks, credits on the jukebox, and even a t-shirt! Then we made our way to the haunted hayride. It was freezing cold and super muddy, but a couple good scares were had. The last stop before the date ended was the newly opened Bancroft Martini Bar. Little did we know, as we sipped our martinis, that 4 years later we would be planning our wedding at that very spot. It was definitely a night to remember for both of us and one that blossomed into years of adventures.
While staying at a friend's lake house in the Upper Peninsula, we got engaged under the stars while watching the Perseid meteor shower with our adorable pups by our side. As it turns out, this proposal was planned to take place in April on our vacation in Punta Cana. But as most of you know, the flu happened and the vacation did not. Not only were we devastated that we couldn't go, but apparently we were also missing our engagement! After that, a family heirloom was carried around in a pocket for 4 months, just waiting for the right moment. That moment finally happened on August 11, 2018.
