We met in 2013 working together at Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We started officially dating in 2014.

Megan agreed to join the Husker bandwagon, even though she still to this day has no idea what is going on.

We both love warm weather, so in 2015 we decided to pack our bags and head to Arlington, Texas.

We loved to explore and every weekend we would try to go somewhere new. Our favorite restaurant was “20 Feet Seafood” and of course, BBQ.

Being in Arlington put us minutes from pro sports, so we made sure we went to as many Dallas Cowboys games as we could.

In 2016, we decided to give the Las Vegas Lifestyle a try. To this day, we still talk about how much we miss having In-N-Out so close.

In 2016 (still) We decided to head back to Nebraska to be close to 3 new nephews! The Cubs also won the world series (woo!) so in 2017 we made our way to Chicago for Opening Day.

In 2018 we made our way to visit Jim and Darcy in VA and spent time in Washington, DC and see the Yankees and the RedSox play in NYC!

In 2019 we got to bring home our sweet girl Miss Leighton Maryse Smith

Despite the tragedy of the pandemic, 2020 was a year of firsts for us. Our first full year in our first house, our first puppy, and even a first birthday for Leighton.

Covid really made having a baby hard, but we did what we could to be safe and still have experiences. In 2021 Leighton saw Disney on Ice for the first time.

So we decided to head to Florida in 2022. Leighton got to experience Walt Disney World for the first time and she was hooked!

So then we decided to go again in 2023

We even decided to go on our first cruise and we loved it! Disney, of course per Leighton’s request.

Surprise! We got engaged on my birthday! The ring setting is called “The Layton” and Wilbur had saved designer after I sent it to him when Leighton was born.

When we are home, we really love going out and exploring new foods and activities as a family. This is at one of our favorite restaurants Gather in Omaha.

We still continue to visit Disney as our regular family vacation stop.
