We wanted to prioritize focusing on each other as we make a beautiful, momentous, and meaningful commitment to our relationship. We were intentional in creating a day true to our shared values. Of course, we are excited to have a memorable ceremony with a few symbols surrounded by mountains and golden aspens. Most importantly, we look forward to the quality time and intimacy that eloping will provide, especially as we share our personal vows.
We deeply value our connection with family and friends, which is why we’re excited to be splitting up the ceremony and reception. This way we can maximize our connections to others when we gather. To take this vision even further (and support our values of sustainability for the environment, finances, and time), we have also split up the reception to create smaller groups and less traveling. Check your texts & the schedule page for more details. For our closest family and friends, we've also asked you to send us a note to read on the day of our elopement. (Please check your texts from us for details). Toasts and personal interactions are always our favorite part of traditional weddings, so we hope to experience this from afar.
We first met Circle K Gas Station in Lyons, Colorado... pretty romantic, we know! Oh, you want to know the rest of the story? Well in classic Colorado + pandemic fashion, we planned a hike for our first date. As we knew it could be out of cell service, we wanted it to be easy to find each other so we met at the gas station just before driving the rest of the way. On that hike, our two dogs Merlyn and Hester, met and fell in love first. We talked the whole hike, Ty brought us a Pink Vapor Stew to drink at the top, and then we continued the date with pizza for lunch. We had 4 more dates in the next week! Before that we had connected online via OK Cupid on Megan’s first day on the platform and Ty's planned last day. We were each other's first and only date from the platform. We had an impeccable match level, easy conversation, and when we started dating believed each other too good a match to be true. Only two months later, completely unrelated to the relationship, Megan rented a room from a stranger at the time (who would become one of her best friends) just 5 minutes from Ty’s house in Arvada, CO. We believe the universe was bringing us together.
