Smithsonian Museums
The National Mall is lined with Smithsonian Museums - all free. The American History Museum, The Natural History Museum and The National Gallery of Art are fantastic. We also suggest The National Archives (and Sculpture Garden across the street), the African American History Museum, and the Air and Space Museum - each of which requires timed entry tickets available online (same as the Washington Monument).
Arlington National Cemetery
A pristine and moving cemetery for America's fallen heroes from its inception to present day. Includes the Tomb of the Unknown solider, the resting place of JFK, Audie Murphy, and more.
International Spy Museum
A great way to learn about the history of intelligence and the real life adventures that inspired James Bond. There is currently a James Bond car exhibit at the museum.
Library of Congress
Stunning architecture and historic home to the canon of literature. Also, a great view of the Capitol.

Newer to DC's Museum scene, this is an interactive, creative, and fun museum that we went to on a recent date night and we can't stop talking about it!!
