Best Man
Brother of Groom & Local Personality Even the most casual attendee of this wedding is undoubtedly familiar with the person & exploits of Tom’s significantly funnier and vastly more popular younger brother. To that end, it seems unlikely further introduction is required. But, just in case or perhaps for the benefit of any plus-ones, it’s Tom’s pleasure as your host to clarify that he (Tom) is indeed “Trevor’s brother” and that yes, that *is* wild.
Matron of Honor
Sister of the Bride Taryn is Megan’s younger and much more fashionable sister. She is also Megan’s best friend, and Megan is so grateful to have Taryn as her sister. Despite Taryn’s busy schedule and living in California she is always available to listen to Megan complain about work or tell a lame story about her day. They have been through the world together and couldn’t imagine life without the other. Who else would get such lame inside jokes and roll their eyes at their parents? With Taryn’s ninja-like planning skills this wedding is sure to be a blast!
Bridesmaid
College Housemate of Bride Megan met Jill at Rutgers during their freshman year. They both lived in Tinsley on the fourth floor (“T4!”) and bonded over their love of pop-punk and crazy guitar and drum solos. They lived together throughout the duration of college and have been inseparable over the years. They have shared many long drives in the Mustang and even trips abroad, traveling to Germany and Canada. Megan and Tom met through Jill. She helped facilitate their first interaction and even sent some texts as Megan to Tom! Without Jill, Megan and Tom would not have become a couple, and they are so grateful to her.
Groomsman
College Roommate & Longtime Nemesis of Groom Tom’s college roommate, with all of the implied levels of extraordinary patience and good humor that requires. Originally neighbors in the Starkey Apartments at Rutgers, Matt and Tom became fast friends after mutually bonding over a political science course they took together taught by a larger-than-life professor, along with innumerable shared interests. They later became roommates/housemates off-campus for the remainder of their tenure at Rutgers and even beyond.
Bridesmaid
Cousin of Bride Megan and Candice are cousins and have shared so much together. They have danced in numerous recitals and enjoyed many family vacations. Candice introduced Megan to many of her firsts, including showing her the ropes around campus, driving to classes, and being the best cousin ever by hosting a Rutgers party in honor of her first day at college making her pretty cool on the Freshman Floor.
Groomsman
College Housemate of Groom Childhood friend of fellow groomsman Alex Williams, Tom met Greg during that fateful first year of Rutgers- all were transfer students from other schools (of course Greg’s waiting of an extra semester before doing so is very on-brand for him in terms of fashionable lateness). Suffice to say, numerous adventures and misadventures soon ensued, the specifics of which are likely left glossed over (in both categories), certainly for this medium at the very least.
Bridesmaid
College Housemate of Bride Megan met Val her junior year of college through a friend of a friend. Many hi-jinx ensued during their final two years of college, most not appropriate to share. They continued this friendship through graduation, traveling to Boston and St. Maarten. Some of their favorite things to do together are to watch movies, drink wine, and eat, so it was a no-brainer when “Wednesday night dinners” were initiated. While these past few years there have been a few miles between them they make time to video chat. Megan is so excited to have Val by her side. Especially so she can do her bidding without prefacing it with a “you’re so pretty”.
Groomsman
Childhood Friend of Groom To the immediate chagrin of their English teacher and shortly thereafter their parents’ pantries, Dave and Tom became fast friends almost immediately in the 7th grade. They have remained so ever since. David values privacy and will already be cross enough at the information revealed here, let alone further revelations.
Bridesmaid
Cousin of the Bride Megan and Alyssa are cousins and have been together since they were in diapers. They used to corral & help entertain their younger siblings at family parties. They also waltzed together in Miss Carole’s dance classes and jazzed it up with Miss Kelly sharing in many dance recitals. Megan is so happy to have Alyssa share in her big day. Especially since she earned the “Rockstar Bridesmaid” award at Taryn’s wedding, driving to get the forgotten flower girl basket the morning of, just to name one assist.
Groomsman
College Housemate of Groom Alex was one of Tom’s original roommates at Rutgers, and likely the most responsible one to boot. After spending some time with the likes of Tom, Matt Nelson and Matt McCarthy he wisely decided to import his lifelong friend Greg to Rutgers as well. Less understandable but nonetheless very welcome was his decision to remain close friends ever since, living with Tom on and off campus for the remainder of college as a housemate. For those in attendance who know Alex already, Tom would like to of course assure all of you that he is doing “real well”.
Bridesmaid
Childhood Friend of Bride Megan met Sara during the blizzard of ’96 when her family moved in next door. Megan’s family brought Sara’s family their famous baked ziti and the rest is basically history. They grew up together as best friends do, sharing in many high school firsts and dragging our families all over the east coast during our color guard years. While Sara moved to Colorado for college they have remained close friends alternating meet up locations. Megan is so happy Sara can make it back to NJ for her big day.
Groomsman
Childhood Friend of Groom Jon and Tom grew up together and while they knew each other as children, became close friends as teenagers in high school; much like Tom’s friendship with Dave, this also was to the immediate chagrin of Mr and Mrs Katz, or specifically their pantry as well. Tom and Jon’s friendship and adventures continued into college and adulthood, and are documented in a years long stream of text messages regarding complaints around modern day inconveniences that their loved ones are mercifully spared from.
Bridesmaid
Childhood Friend of Bride Megan met Sasha in elementary school! That’s right, basically babies! They even have a VHS (oh yeah, old school!) of them dancing to “Colors of the Wind” & "Jock Jams" for a talent show. Tie-dying shirts in the driveway and smashing pies in the face followed by jumping in the pool are just a few childhood memories they share. They have danced and sang in many talent shows and performed in numerous color guard shows together. Megan is so excited to have Sasha share in another memory.
Groomsman
College Housemate of Groom This gentleman requires no introduction to those in attendance who know him. For those that don’t, Matt and Tom have been close friends since day one of Rutgers where they met as roommates. To this day Matt is one of only two or three people whose actual phonecalls Tom will answer without question; it’s that kind of friendship.
Officiant
Childhood Friend of Groom For those in attendance who are unaware, Tom grew up on a very quiet street on a rather far-flung corner of his hometown- without many friends living close by (East Brunswick is quite large). Imagine his delight when in 6th grade he not only made a new friend, but she was moving to within walking distance from his house! Tom & Megan have been close ever since, even visiting each other’s families on the holidays- and getting away with *way* too much due to being too smart for their own good as teenagers. Later in life it was one of the greatest honors in Tom’s entire life to walk Megan down the aisle at her wedding, and she is graciously repaying him by officiating his.
