Megan and Spencer met January 30, 2016 at the University of Alabama. They met through their friends Alex and Bennett Clark. It was Megan's last semester of school, and Spencer had just graduated a month prior. Alex had asked the girls to come over because some of Bennett's friends were in town. Bennett introduced Megan to his friend Spencer that night. They started dating shortly after meeting that night.

Spencer and Megan went to Hilton Head, SC. They went with Megan’s family, a Friedmann tradition since she was little. During the day the two went to the beach. Spencer and Megan’s dad worked on planning a special evening. Megan’s dad made a really nice dinner reservation and even ironed her dress to make sure everything was special. After dinner, they walked around the harbor to get icecream. Spencer asked Megan to take a picture in front of the lighthouse. It was there he got on one knee and proposed. Megan was all smiles. They spent the rest of the week at the beach excited and ready to start their future together.
