For friends and family flying in from out of town, please fly into Des Moines International Airport. Yes, we do have an INTERNATIONAL airport :)!! Des Moines is a rather small city so renting a car is not necessary, but feel free to rent one if you want to explore more. Lyft is the most affordable and then taxis. Not much of a public transportation system but we do have public buses (DART - ridedart.com) and a bike share program (Des Moines BCycle - desmoines.bcycle.com). Lastly, for our California friends, Allegiant Air does fly direct to Des Moines but only leaves from certain cities. If you are having difficulties finding a flight, at a reasonable cost, to Des Moines an alternative is to fly into Omaha, NE and rent a car ( Approximately a 2 hour drive). Here are just a couple of ideas of where to stay in Downtown Des Moines. However, there are many other cool options that are also centrally located!!!
