Megan & Quinton

Wedding Party

Megan Knight

Bride

Megan was born and raised in Charleston, WV. She graduated from George Washington High School in 2003. She then went to the University of Cincinnati where she received a B.S. in Graphic Design in 2008. Through Cincinnati’s co-op program, Megan got to work at many wonderful companies around the US and Australia. Her love of design and travel has continued her entire adult life. She started her own design company, Knight Vision Designs, in 2014 back in Charleston, WV. She LOVES cold weather, pizza, dark chocolate, adventures, reading, hiking, sports (playing and watching), and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Millie! Oh and I guess she must LOVE Quinton too!!!

Quinton Johnson

Groom

Quinton was born in Charleston WV. Went to gw and then WVU. Has been fortunate to work at matrix his entire career as an operating technician, building and operating pilot scale units in the chemical research and development industry. Loves outdoors especially fishing and kayaking. And spends as much time as possible with his siblings, David, Adam and Sarah. And enjoys his time with Megan, too. That is all.

Sarah (Sullivan) Merriam

Matron of Honor

Megan has known Sarah since they were 14. Sarah was kind enough to come talk to the new girl during gym class. Since then their friendship has weathered all that high school throws at you and then on to colleges in different states. After that we lived within walking distance of each other in Pittsburgh, while Megan worked and Sarah aced medical school. Then Megan moved back to WV and Sarah found the time to get married, have 2 kids and get an amazing job as an Academic Internist with a focus on women’s health at the VA in Pittsburgh.

Jess (“Bradstreet”) Wagner

Matron of Honor

Sorority recruitment our senior year at the University of Cincinnati brought us together. We quickly bonded over being newly single and realized we had tons in common, especially tailgating and watching sports. We have traveled to WV, Pittsburgh, NOLA and Memphis for perfect excuses to see each other and do what we love. She ended marrying a friend of mine, after I highly recommended her hitching a ride with him in his minivan to come visit me for the UC/Pitt game of 2009. We have lived apart more than together, but have found a way through texting, phone calls, and visits to make this a friendship that will last a lifetime.

Jenny Little

Bridesmaid

Jenny kindly offered to share her umbrella with me at the University of Cincinnati freshman orientation and while huddled under it realized we were both majoring in graphic design and ended up having the same class schedule for most of college. We even worked and traveled around Australia together for a quarter and still came back good friends! After college Jenny has found the time to get married, have 4 kids and get an amazing job at Shriners Hospital in their marketing department but has now segwayed into full time mom.

Christina (“Fugman”) Groenke

Bridesmaid

Fugman was Megan’s roommate in Kappa Kappa Gamma for 3 years (4 if you count Megan’s last year of college, when Fugman slept in Nicole’s bed more than Nicole did). Quinton has a lot to live up to, because she was an amazing roommate, and when I say roommate, I mean in the same tiny room. Christina is an RN on the oncology floor of Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. She has 3 children, 2 dogs and a bearded dragon named Roger.

Abby Brehm

Bridesmaid

Abby is Megan’s little sister in Kappa Kappa Gamma. She received a BS Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Cincinnati. She worked at Northwestern in Chicago for a few years after graduating, but then decided she should go back to school. So she moved to Boston where she received a MS Biopharmaceutical Regulatory Science. Megan has tried to visit Abby everywhere she has lived, or they tried to meet once a year somewhere fun that worked for both of them. Always an adventure! While in Boston, Abby found the love of her life, Jean-Francois (or Jeff to us Americans). A few years ago, they got married, decided to move to Switzerland, and start a family. So now I have another great destination to go visit!

“Mrs. Kim” (Wagner) Barrett

Bridesmaid

Kim is my adopted little sister in Kappa Kappa Gamma. I don’t know exactly how we started to hang out, but it’s been great ever since. We have traveled a lot for UC sports, which is really just the perfect excuse to see each other. Kim got a babysitting job in college, and the children had to call her “Ms. Kim” and it stuck, well it morphed to “Mrs. Kim” when she got married. She majored in business at the University of Cincinnati and now works at Cincinnati Bell as the Director of Product Strategy, sounds boring to me, but Kim is awesome at her job and usually wins any negotiation she gets into. She also has found time to have 2 children and 2 dog children.

Laura “Casto”

Bridesmaid

Megan and Casto met at Appalachian Power Park the first year Megan moved back to Charleston. Instantly became friends because of our love of watching baseball, drinking beer and running. Running took them on an awesome adventure to run the Berlin, Germany marathon. Yes Megan finished (and only 6 minutes over her goal time) and then was rewarded by celebrating in Munich at Oktoberfest! Casto is a Nutritionist Policy and Procedures Coordinator for the West Virginia Bureau of Public Health. We all need to say some extra prayers that Casto makes it to this wedding, because Megan and Casto have missed both of the wedding ceremonies they have tried to attend together (first our driver locked the keys in the car and second because an ice truck was blocking the only road in).

Kelli Marakovits

Bridesmaid

Kelli was Megan’s instructor for group exercise classes at the YMCA when Megan first moved back to Charleston in 2012. They would talk a little after class and then that turned into hanging out outside of class and a great friendship. Kelli’s B.A. Graphic Design and Masters in Journalism (from Marshall University - lets not hold that against her), then took to to a wonderful job in Richmond, VA. She talked about maybe coming back to WV one day, but she fell in love and now has a baby girl, so I bet she only ever comes back to visit :)

Sarah “Nic” Matheny

Bridesmaid

Sarah is the rotten apple of Quinton’s eye, his baby sister, the youngest of all the siblings and one of his best friends. Thankfully she survived her middle school goth phase and has matured into a college hippie. She is attending Moore College of Art in Philly and will be starting her first professional job as a museum curator in Philly post graduation.

Adam “Mr. Crabs” Johnson

Best Man

The youngest of Quinton’s brothers. He started life as a rock in Quinton’s shoe, but has turned into one of his best friends in the world. He went to George Washington High School and made it out of West Virginia University, which lead him to Charlotte, NC. He now shares a home there with long time girlfriend, Stacie, and their dog and cat.

David “Dave” Matheny

Best Man

Quinton met Dave in the early 90s at a McDonalds where they shared their love of their newly acquired Spider-Man toys. About a year later they went from friends to brothers. Dave went to George Washington High School and High Point University. He is now a real estate lawyer in North Carolina. He lives in Charlotte, NC with his girlfriend, Rebekah, and there boys, Finley and Chance.

Sam “Fish” Fisher

Groomsman

The “adopted” wildcard brother of the Johnson/Matheny clan. Quinton met Fish in 2003 when their face masks got stuck together at football practice for John Adams Middle School. They soon found out they were neighbors when they met each other the first first day of school on the bus. Fish went to George Washington High School and WVU. Fish has been a close friend and roommate for many years and now lives in Charlotte, NC.

Evan Knight

Groomsman

Evan is the youngest brother of the bride. Evan and Quinton went to school and church together growing up, but ran in different social circles. Evan received a BS Geology from WVU. He has turned his passion for all things outdoors ( rock climbing, skiing, rafting, biking, hiking) into a wonderful career in tourism and outdoor education that has taken him all over the continental US and Alaska. He met his wife while working in upstate New York and they now reside in Idaho with their dog, Bernie.

Ryan “Chaney”

Groomsman

Quinton and Chaney became fast friends and have been for over 20 years. They grew up playing baseball and church basketball together. Ryan’s competitive spirit is constantly at odds with Quinton’s lackidasical nature which has created a bitter rivelry which has given them many wonderful memories. (Thanks for Richwood)

Michael “Mike” Farris

Groomsman

Quinton and Michael became friends playing grade school sports and being forced to stay and watch their younger siblings. They always remained friends but in high school became much closer, and probably would have been even better friends if he had left Charleston Catholic High School and come to George Washington. After high school, Michael went to WVU. He graduated from West Virginia State University. He was a corhort in many sinanigans in college. Michael is getting married to his wonderful wife (soon to be) Oct 2020 and will officially start a life with their beautiful baby boy.

Casey Lester

Groomsman

Quinton met Casey during grade school baseball and basketball. Casey and Quinton kindled their friendship based on being the shortest people on their teams and the fact that Quinton kept getting Casey’s mom confused with his own. Casey went to George Washington High School and WVU. He graduated from West Virginia Tech. Quinton and Casey share a love of fishing and being outdoors and their annual fishing trips are the highlight of their year. Casey is currently living in Wheeling, WV on a large piece of land with his two enormous dogs.

Johnathan Ritchie

Groomsman

Quinton and Jonathan met so early on an exact date is not able to be determined., although it is safe to say that Jonathan was Quinton’s first real friend. They bonded through church activities and sports. Their friendship blossomed through a love of science fiction, the arts and anything weird. Joanathan went to Charleston Catholic High School and Appalachian State and has cultivated a talent and love for the culinary arts.

Tristan “Stump” Ritchie

Groomsman

Tristan and Quinton met through Tristan’s older brother Jonathan. Tristan quickly became one of the younger siblings that Quinton could not beat up on. Tristan went to Charleston Catholic High School and Wheeling Jesuit University on a soccer scholarship. He moved back to Charleston where he coaches soccer at his alma mater. It took Quinton 3 years of begging before they became roommates and they have celebrated 2 years of roommate bliss as of April 2020.
