Why Buena Vista?
Answer
After two years in Colorado, and with family and friends spread across the country, we wanted everyone to get to experience the same Colorado that we know and love. Buena Vista and the surrounding area has quickly become one of our favorite weekend getaways. While its not as 'name-famous' as some Colorado ski towns, is a quintessential mountain town surrounded by mountain views with tons to do (see the 'Things to Do' page).

What's the weather like in Colorado in September?
Answer
September is one of our favorite months in Colorado. The days are usually warm & sunny with highs in the 60'/70's, and the nights are cool & crisp with lows dipping into the 40's/30's. That being said, weather in the mountains can be unpredicatable, so definitely bring some warm clothes & rain jackets just in case. Specifically, if you plan to attend the welcome party on Friday, the event will mainly be outside so a jacket would be advised! The elevation in Buena Vista is just shy of 8k feet above sea level, and it is considered a high-desert climate. We definitely recommend bringing drinking lots of water and bringing chapstick if you are coming from sea-level or lower elevations.

Where should I stay?
Answer
We have compiled and listed some great options on the "Travel" tab of the website, so be sure to check that out. We strongly encourage all guests to stay either at or near the Surf Hotel, as that will be where buses pick up on Friday for the welcome party and where the Ceremony and Reception will be held. Please reach out to us if you have questions or need recommendations!

Is there transportation provided?
Answer
Friday 9/20: We will have buses running all night between the Surf Hotel and Deer Valley Lodge for the welcome party. They should leave around every 30 minutes, with the first bus leaving Surf Hotel at 5pm and the last bus departing the lodge at 10pm. Saturday 9/21: We will have a small shuttle for guests staying outside of walking distance to the Surf Hotel. If you are staying further away from the venue and would like a ride to the ceremony, please reach out to Patrick & Megan directly and we will help coordinate a ride.

Can I bring my kids?
Answer
While we love and adore your kids, we are kindly asking that you leave them at home or hire care for the ceremony and reception. If your kids make the trip with you, they are absolutely welcome to come to the Welcome Party on Friday night!
