Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Megan Becken and Nick Goblisch
Brainerd is a place that means so much to us, and we’re so excited for you to experience it during our wedding weekend. We’ve put together a few of our favorite restaurants and activities below in case you’re looking for things to do, we hope you enjoy exploring the area as much as we do!
Quarterdeck Resort

Quarterdeck Resort

9820 Birch Bay Drive Southwest, Nisswa, MN 56468

Quarterdeck is a great spot for lunch or dinner right on the water – and they often have live music to set the vibe! It’s the perfect place to kick back, enjoy the view, and hang out for a while. Megan loves the margaritas, and Nick usually goes for a refreshing G&T. With a bar overlooking the lake, it’s an easy, fun place to spend an afternoon or evening.

Ernie's on Gull

Ernie's on Gull

10424 Gull Point Road, East Gull Lake, MN 56401

Ernie’s is one of our go-to spots, especially when we can boat up for lunch (but don’t worry, you can drive, too!). This laid-back, lakeside favorite is perfect for a casual lunch or dinner, with great food, a fun atmosphere, and often some live music to enjoy while you eat. If you’re in the mood for something refreshing after a day on the water, Megan highly recommends the Greenie, it’s a must-try!

Zorbaz

Zorbaz

8105 Lost Lake Road, Lake Shore, MN 56468

A true classic for pizza, beer, and good times! Zorbaz is perfect for a laid-back dinner or a fun night out, especially with a big group. Grab a table, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and soak up the views right on Gull Lake. It’s casual, it’s festive, and it’s always a good time.

Bar Harbor Supper Club

Bar Harbor Supper Club

8164 Interlachen Road, Lake Shore, MN 56468

If you’re in the mood for a slightly more elevated night out, Bar Harbor is a great choice. It’s Tim and Roxane’s (Megan’s parents!) go-to date night spot up north, so it definitely has their stamp of approval. You can even arrive by boat for the full lake experience! We recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially during busy weekends. If you stop by during the day, try the frozen bootlegger for something refreshing – and for dinner, you can’t go wrong with the surf and turf!

The Iron Waffle Coffee Company

The Iron Waffle Coffee Company

8785 Interlachen Road, Nisswa, MN 56468

Up early and craving something delicious to start your day? Head to the adorable woodsy cabin that is Iron Waffle for a sweet or savory waffle (you really can’t go wrong!). It’s the perfect cozy breakfast spot and one of our favorites. We even love walking here from the Becken cabin!

The Chocolate Ox

The Chocolate Ox

23457 Nokomis Avenue, Nisswa, MN 56468

After a great dinner or a long day on the lake, if you’re in the mood for a sweet nightcap, head over to Chocolate Ox! Whether you’re craving ice cream or a little candy fix, this spot has you covered. There are two convenient locations—one at Grand View Lodge and one in downtown Nisswa—so you’re never too far away. Megan’s go-to order is a scoop of black cherry, and Nick’s favorite is cookie dough in a waffle cone.

StoneHouse Coffee & Roastery

StoneHouse Coffee & Roastery

25346 Main Street, Nisswa, MN 56468

Stone House Coffee is the perfect stop for a delicious latte or a fresh-baked scone! With two locations, it’s an easy and convenient way to start your day. Megan’s go-to order is an iced latte with their homemade blueberry syrup (so good!), and Nick’s is a cold brew and a blueberry scone.

Golf

Golf

If you’re looking to hit the links, you’re in the right place—Brainerd is known for its amazing golf, with courses for every skill level. It’s a very popular activity up north, so we definitely recommend booking a tee time in advance! Some of our favorite courses: The Pines at Grand View Lodge Madden’s on Gull Lake (The Classic, Pine Beach East, Pine Beach West, Social 9) Cragun’s Legacy Courses (The Lehman 18, Dutch 27, Nice 09) The Gravel Pit - great par 3 option! Deacon’s Lodge - a bit more of a drive, but a cult favorite for a reason

Boat Rentals

Boat Rentals

Our absolute favorite part about being up north is getting out on the water! We highly recommend checking out the lakeside restaurants, but if you’re looking to be a bit more adventurous, many of the local resorts offer rentals like kayaks, paddleboards, and more. If you’re hoping to spend a full day on the lake, there are also several great boat rental companies in the area. Just a heads up—these tend to book up quickly, especially in peak season—so we definitely recommend reserving in advance! Downtown Nisswa

Downtown Nisswa

Nisswa, MN 56468

If you’re looking for something to do during the day, we recommend exploring Downtown Nisswa. It’s a small, charming town with a handful of shops and restaurants all along one easy-to-walk main street. In the summer, it’s especially fun to stroll, pop into a few local spots, and enjoy the laid-back Northwoods feel. Restaurants in Downtown Nisswa: Rafferty’s Pizza Main Street Ale House Big Axe Brewing Coffee and Scones: Stonehouse Coffee (mentioned above)
