Bridesmaid
"The Megans" have been best friends since high school. They first bonded over late night trips to Meijer, playing cards in various friends' basements or occasionally golf courses after hours, and, once they were old enough, getting their noses pierced together (but actually Megan L. was still 17 so her dad had to come along with them as a legal guardian). In college they got to live together as roommates, and on various occasions when Megan L. was in a pinch for housing, KJ graciously took her in and shared her bedroom with her without ever batting an eye or thinking twice about it. Megan L. feels so lucky to have a friend that is always there for her in times of need, without question. Megan KJ is Megan's favorite person to laugh so hard to the point of tears and belly ache with. During the course of their friendship, they have been on many adventures together, including Australia, Europe, and various road trips in the US. Megan KJ is a talented artist that has done some of Megan's tattoos (and her favorite ones, at that) and all of Matt's. Megan KJ currently resides in ~the land down under~ in Melbourne, Australia, but whenever she is home to visit-- even when years have gone by-- it feels like no time has passed at all.

Megan and Stacey grew up across the street from each other and have been best friends as long as Megan can remember. Many of Megan's childhood memories include Stacey: falling asleep to Madonna cassette tapes during sleepovers, eating cherries together as young children (and once Megan swallowed a pit and was in secret panic that a cherry tree would grow insider her), their 5th grade class together, or once high school came around, blasting music in her car with the moon roof open and playing along with the various instruments she kept in there. After high school, Megan and Stacey both attended MSU and spent 2 years together as roommates, first in the dorms, and then in their first-ever house together (where Megan KJ also resided). Megan and Stacey spent a couple of years post-college in separate cities or states, but they both eventually landed in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Megan and Stacey still see each other very often, and these lifelong friends are also sharing the year 2024 as the year they get married (Stacey on 7/6/24). Megan knows it is a very special thing to have a friend that she has been so close to for so long and to have been able to share so many important milestones with.
Bridesmaid
Kindred spirits, Megan and Shelby met in college but became close during their time working together at Green Things Farm Collective. Megan and Shelby bonded over their love of nature and cultivating food (and flowers!) for their communities. Shelby is a friend that is always there to listen and offer support, whether it is just some fun friend time, words of encouragement or validation, a visit for some needed distraction during a hard time in life, cheering on Megan's various endeavors, or volunteering her time as a helping hand on Megan and Matt's new farm--even though she already farms as her full time job and is surely exhausted. Megan is so appreciative to have someone as kind and caring as Shelby in her life, who is a beautiful person inside and out, and whose presence is always effortlessly calming and nurturing.
Bridesmaid
Megan and Janine share a strong love for feline friends as well as Janine's brother/Megan's husband-to-be. Megan is very excited to gain a sister-in-law in Matt's sister Janine, whose intelligence, strength, and confidence Megan greatly looks up to. Megan is grateful to have been excitedly welcomed by Janine into Matt's family, not just because Megan is excited to officially call them family, but because whenever they are together for a visit she can tell how much Janine loves her younger brother and wants the best for him, so her approval means so much. Megan looks forward to the many future trips she and Matt will take to California to visit Janine and her husband, Reza, as well as their cats Macy and Maya who Megan hopes to meet in person someday soon.
Bridesmaid
Megan's sister-in-law and mother to the ring bearer (and Megan's nephew) Arthur, Megan and Maria met in 2017 when Maria and Megan's brother (Matt L.) started dating. Megan soon realized that Maria was here to stick around and was so happy that her brother had found someone as dedicated, sweet, supportive, and fun as Maria. Megan has loved having Maria as her sister-in-law since their wedding in 2019, and it has warmed Megan's heart to watch Matt and Maria's family grow with their son, Arthur, whom Megan (and Matt) love very much. Megan feels lucky to feel so loved and supported by her brother's wife, is filled with joy that she will stand by Megan on her wedding day as Megan stood by Maria on hers, and looks forward to the many memories she, Maria, Matt K., and Matt L. will share in all the years to come.
Bridesmaid
Megan and Makenzie have been friends since college thanks to fellow bridesmaid Stacey Karl. Makenzie spent several years post-college living in Los Angeles, and moved back to Detroit during the pandemic, which Megan is very grateful for. In the years since, Megan and Makenzie have grown closer and Megan loves any time spent with Makenzie, whether it is a game night with the crew, a friends trip to the Lowlor Lodge, traveling to various cities in Michigan to see some of their favorite musicians play live, singing a musical duet together during late night karaoke, or just hanging out. Megan and Matt love visiting Makenzie in Detroit, and it was her house in which Megan's 30th birthday was celebrated with some of her closest friends. Megan can't wait to continue to celebrate life and friendship with Makenzie in the years to come, and is honored to have her by her side on Matt and Megan's special day.

Megan and Alyssa initially met during a brief stint working together at the Raven's Club in Ann Arbor. They really got to know each other when chatting at the Ann Arbor farmers market during a time when they were both selling veggies for local farms, and then grew closer after being set up by a mutual friend to go shopping together at a vintage clothes warehouse sale in the metro Detroit area. Since then, Megan and Matt moved to Ypsilanti, the same city that Alyssa and her fiancé, Brennan, reside in. After beginning to trade favors such as cat sitting, duck sitting, and garden watering, Megan, Matt, Alyssa, and Brennan began spending more and more time together. Megan and Matt loved having Alyssa and Brennan as neighbors, and Megan is so glad to have gained a gardening-loving, local food-loving, stylish, fun, and kind friend in Alyssa during their time living in Ypsi. This past winter, the four of them took a trip to the U.P., where Matt proposed to Megan and Alyssa and Brennan (who were as surprised as Megan!) took the lovely photos you see on this website :) Megan and Matt look forward to many more years of playing games, talking gardens, and going on trips together with Alyssa and Brennan.
Groomsman
Matt K and Matt L met soon after Matt K and Megan started dating. From the outset, it was apparent to Matt K that Matt L was an amazing brother to Megan. On top of that, Matt L and his wife Maria welcomed their wonderful son Arthur to the world soon after Matt K and Megan became an item. Matt L stepped into the role of a father as naturally and easily as most folks put one foot in front of the other to walk. Matt K has been consistently impressed by Matt L's dedication to his family and the great consideration and care with which he and Maria make any decision that impacts them. Ultimately it was up to Matt L to allow another Matt into the family (let alone another alliterative M&M couple) and he graciously granted Matt K permission to do so. Matt K looks forward to many more years together with Matt L and learning about how to be a great father.

Matt and Stu met in college and quickly bonded over their mutual appreciation of affordable malt liquor and marching around in circles at basement parties and shows. Matt has Stu to thank for providing introductions to places like Leland, Seattle, and Port Angeles. Stu has deep connections with every place he lives and his willingness to share those connections enabled Matt to greatly widen his perspectives of the world and find the places he truly loves and visits often in person and in memory. Stu and his wife Nora provided Matt's first introduction to Real, Actual Mountains (though they are much less interested in walking up them than snowboarding and skiing down them). It is with heartfelt thanks to the wonderful hospitality, earnestness, and love of Stu and Nora that Matt and Megan have developed a deep affinity for the Pacific Northwest and feel like it is their home-away-from-home--which is a term that could also describe wherever Stu and Nora are when Matt and Megan visit.
Groomsman
Matt and Eddie met in college and grew very close the summer after they graduated. What began as a way to keep Matt's college lease occupied and provide Eddie a convenient venue for selling projectors, furniture, and other items that fell off the back of a truck smoothly transitioned into them both finding their first post-college jobs at an outdoor media company. Eddie and Matt learned how to start navigating the nonsensical world of corporate America together and Matt is eternally grateful to have had Eddie's grounded perspective during the first years of his "professional" life. They subsequently moved to Detroit together and developed a great, shared fondness for the city. Eddie has been Matt's rock for all manner of home, moving, car, electrical, and farmstead problems. Megan and Matt's shared vacations with Eddie and his wife Missy all around the country are some of their most deeply treasured memories and they look forward to many more.

Matt and Joey have been in each other's orbit since they were kids, but started becoming much closer during their time at Michigan State University (noticing a trend?). They share an affinity for blaze orange hats, being the sweatiest person at a concert, and generally pulling each others' chains. Matt has always appreciated Joey's incisive mind and coherent worldview and his willingness to challenge questionable notions and behavior that others remain silent or inactive about. They've had their share of debates over the course of their friendship but always remain close companions. Joey has introduced Matt to many authors, books, and music that Matt now counts among his favorites. Similar to Stu and Nora, Joey and his incredible wife Zeineb have always been willing to share their lives and experiences with Matt and Megan. Matt visited Joey in Tunisia in 2018 and 2019, first for fun and then for Joey and Zeineb's wedding. Thanks to Joey's care, mindfulness, and outgoing nature, these trips stand out in Matt's memory as two of the best experiences of his life.
Groomsman
Matt and Amir have known each other since middle school. While they were friends and in each other's orbit prior to attending Michigan State University together, it was during their freshman year in East Lansing that they started becoming much closer. Amir's magnanimity and welcoming nature helped push Matt out from his shy and introverted shell into a broader social world. Amir introduced Matt to many of the people who he counts among his best friends now, including Eddie and Stu. Amir has always been there for Matt to both help him through difficult times and share the greatest times. Matt remembers the years that Amir, Eddie, and Matt spent together in Detroit as some of the very best (second to those with Megan, of course). These days, visiting Amir and his partner Victoria in Detroit is one of Matt and Megan's favorite activities. There are hundreds more shared experiences that can't and shouldn't be recorded on this page. The common line through and beyond all of them has been Amir's consistency and compassion for Matt and all his friends.
Groomsman
Matt and Dooley were best friends back in middle school. After an Official Friendship Hiatus, they reconnected near the end of college and their relationship kicked back off as it had never paused. Dooley is entirely responsible for the existence of Matt's professional career; he got him his first, second, third, and fourth post-college jobs (Matt has had four post-college jobs). Alongside Megan and Matt's family, Dooley is probably the person who believes in and supports him the most. Matt deeply appreciates Dooley's level-headed perspective on a range of topics, from the emotional to the moral. Dooley has always been a steadfast voice of reason to help Matt navigate life. Despite the close bond they share, Matt has never been able to shake Dooley from making some of the most questionable automobile purchases in human history. It is Matt's cross to bear in their relationship. Dooley and his wife Rachel are among the core group of people who have made Ann Arbor feel like a real home to Matt and Megan.
Groomsman
Matt and Zac became good friends after Matt moved to Ann Arbor. He was already very close with Dooley, which as far as Matt was concerned was one of the prime criteria for evaluating a person. Matt and Zac have grown close through working and hanging together for the past several years. Zac has shown Matt what it looks like to courageously embrace everything life can throw at you--Zac's optimism and open-mindedness have taught Matt a lot about how to navigate similar events in his own path. One of the most impactful effects Zac has had on Matt's life is showing him how people can remain connected with each other as they have families and grow in different ways. Zac and his wife Thressa and their two children, Frankie and Ira, are another huge component of making Ann Arbor the ideal home for Matt and Megan. Zac and Thressa are an inspiration to Matt for raising an amazing family in a way that continues to incorporate their close friends in an active social life.
Ring Bearer
Arthur Lowlor, who will be a fresh three years old when Megan and Matt's wedding comes around, is the son of Megan's brother, Matt, and sister-in-law Maria. Arthur has the sweetest smile one will ever see that will instantly light up the room, and whenever you see it you can't help but smile and laugh with him. Arthur is a big fan of flashlights, fans (or anything that spins), pressing buttons, and turning lights on and off. His favorite movies are currently Toy Story and Shrek (which is one Megan and brother Matt also liked a lot as children). One of Megan's favorite things to do is give Arthur hugs and kisses, which he has come around to reciprocating, and everyday she gets to spend with him is always the best day ever. While Arthur spent his first year and a half or so unsure of his Uncle Matt, which we suspect may have had something to do with his long hair or mustache that one simply doesn't see on all men, Matt eventually won him over and Arthur now loves a nice walk around wherever they are holding his Uncle Matt's hand. Megan and Matt are very excited to have Arthur be a part of their wedding, and know no matter how he does during the ceremony it will likely be the cutest thing ever.
Officiant
Robert Shafer and Megan's dad, Jim Lowlor, met back in their radio days in the 1970s. After years of fun and adventures together, some that Megan probably doesn't need or want to know about, her Uncle Bob was made the best man in her parents' wedding in the year 1990. But Megan's Uncle Bob isn't just an "Uncle" because he was her dad's best friend. In addition to the wedding being a memorable, life-changing event for Megan's parents, it was a life-changing event for Uncle Bob and someone else as well. This is the place where he met the love of his life, and Megan's Aunt Sue (her mother's sister), who was the maid of honor in her parents' wedding. Apparently they really hit it off and his feelings were reciprocated, because Uncle Bob officially came into the family a few months after Megan was born in 1993. In the years since, Megan's Uncle Bob was named her godfather, hosted Megan and her brother on many occasions as young children, as the Shafers were their most frequent babysitters, and --jumping forward several more years--officiated her brothers wedding to Maria in 2019. Megan feels it is very special to have someone who has been there since the very beginning of her life (and even long before that!) to officiate her and Matt's wedding as well, and she and Matt are so grateful and excited that he accepted this role with so much enthusiasm and love.
