Matthew and Megan matched on Hinge in June 2023 — just days before Megan planned to delete the app for good. She had given herself one month to give dating apps a chance... and then, just in the nick of time, Matthew sent her a message. A few days later, they had their first “meetup” — Matthew’s word, not Megan’s — at Café Brasil in Houston. Megan arrived early and was seated when Matthew walked through the door. The moment she saw him, she stood up so quickly that she nearly knocked over the table. (Don’t worry — she caught it before it crashed!) Despite the slightly chaotic start, there was an instant connection. Megan had no voice that day thanks to a lingering cold, but she wasn’t about to cancel. Matthew seemed too good to pass up — he rescued dogs, had a kind heart, was gorgeous and liked Ted Lasso. That was enough for Megan to tough it out (with a lot of gesturing and whispers). Matthew, meanwhile, broke one of his dating rules that day: not only did he stay for a full lunch, but he also invited Megan to his weekly hangout spot — a move she later learned was a big deal. From that moment on, their story unfolded naturally and joyfully. They went bowling (Megan won... twice), watched fireworks over pasta on the 4th of July, held hands while wandering through the Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals, and had countless laughter-filled dates exploring Houston and beyond. When they decided to get engaged, Megan told Matthew she wanted to propose too. In classic serendipity, they ended up planning proposals for the same weekend — a cozy getaway in Wimberley, Texas. Matthew popped the question at sunset (in San Antonio) with the sun setting over the neighboring hills. Megan proposed later that weekend at their cabin in the woods in Wimberley, surrounded by Wesley (their pup), trees and love. It was quiet, meaningful, and perfectly them. Now, they live with their two sweet pups — Wesley and Albus — who have taken their roles as honorary wedding planners very seriously (Wesley, especially, considers himself head of security). They can’t wait to say “I do” in the Texas Hill Country, surrounded by the people they love most — and maybe a few squirrels for Albus & Wesley to chase.
