They can typically be found laughing hysterically at one another and patting each other on the back when a line from their favorite movie (Pitch Perfect) is perfectly delivered. It would not be a family gathering without these two quoting Pitch Perfect.

Best Man
Todd is the brother, neighbor, confidant, do or die, Shaq to the groom’s Kobe and Gronk to the grooms Brady. The groom has known Todd ever since his first memory as a child. The two grew up attending the same church and school together. Todd is three years older than the groom and has acted as an older brother giving advice when needed, helping out the groom when he is stuck and helping him with school. Their families also attend vacations together every year (usually to Maui) and used to co-own a house in Bend. Todd is an alum from Oregon State University and recently started a software company, E2 (product: CampsEZ.com) which is focused on revolutionizing the collection, storage, and transfer of information, with the first product specifically focused on registration for kids activities (think sports teams, summer camps, and chess clubs). Using AI and ML it revolutionizes the space for parents and organizations, saving parents headaches and organizations time. Matt and Todd have traveled the world, 8 different countries (and only lost 1 hat), climbed volcanoes, four wheeled on the most extreme terrain, viewed some of the worlds most incredible works of art, ziplined above forests, fought through sports injuries together, conquered hoards of zombies, and of course always gone for it on fourth down.
Groomsman
Blake serves as a pilot for the United States Air Force and currently is living in Destin, Florida with his newly wedded wife Hayley. He is an alumni from Oregon State University where he participated in the Air Force ROTC program. Blake and the groom met in the summer leading into the grooms freshman year of high school playing summer basketball. They both attended Horizon Christian High School and participated in the same sports together between cross country, basketball and Track and Field. The groom and Blake both don’t exactly remember the inciting event that resulted in them becoming friends. But attribute it to some sarcastic comment the groom said to Blake while they were on the basketball court together. They only spent two years of high school together but, during that period they were able to make lifelong memories which include selling expensive artwork, exploring the dangerous woods of Tigard, buying the groom his first legal drink while establishing a friendship that extends across the world. A fun fact about Blake, he was the first one of the grooms friends who met the bride before the two were even dating.
Groomsman
Cyrus has been one of the grooms oldest friends. They attended elementary and middle school together. During that period of their lives they spent a lot of time playing sports, building robots, jumping on trampolines, building and conquering empires and playing video games. Cyrus left Horizon and attended OES high school where he served as ASB President and Captain of the debate team. This lead him to follow in his favorite Portland Trailblazer’s footsteps (CJ McCollum) and attend Lehigh University. Currently, Cyrus lives in New York City where he wastes no time (or money) enjoying the lavish lifestyle and taking advantage of the nickname “The city that never sleeps” as he himself barely finds time to sleep. He is currently working for Citi Bank as an Asset Backed Securities trader. The two of them have been friends for almost 20 years and have established a friendship that is able to withstand multiple months apart. They have shared many memories, together such as attending weddings, planning tropical vacations, as well as the infamous and spontaneous ski trip that everyone knows about. Through it all, Cyrus has and continues to act as a pillar of support through the thick and thin.
Groomsman
Jack is one of the grooms newer friends compared to the others. They attended middle school together but did not become friends until the middle of 8th grade when they participated on the boys 8th grade basketball team coached by the famous Mr. Shelby! Jack is known for his talent in creative writing which he was known for in middle school as he wrote the Jimmy Stories. Jack has always been known as the peace keeper of their friend group and has a heart of selflessness. He showed that throughout high school because he always opened up his house to the groom and their friend group. Arguably, the three destinations the groom visited the most throughout high school was 1st his own home, 2nd high school and 3rd Jack’s house. The groom and Jack had such a close relationship in high school they had planned to attend the same university and live as roommates until one of the two of them received no financial aid from that university… ANYWAYS… Jack attended Point Loma University in San Diego during the same time the groom and bride were only 3 hours up north at Cal Lu. Even though the two friends did not room together they were still able to see each other multiple times throughout undergrad. The two of them have been able to go on a lot of adventures together such as climbing mountains, traveling internationally, attending multiple blazer games both home and away games as well as driving 18 hours from San Diego to Portland.
Groomsman
Zach and the groom have been friends for over 18 years! The two of them grew up going to school together and spent most of their childhood playing basketball on the same team coached by Zach’s father. Growing up, the two had countless sleepovers together where they would make oreo milkshakes, chocolate chip waffles with whip cream and spend all night watching MacGyver, Psych and spending hours on hours defending Seatown. During high school the two of them also played basketball and football together. The two of them both had such a strong connection during the football season that they both ended up having surgery on the exact same day. Zach graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and is currently working as a process Engineer. The two continue to reminisce on the countless memories they have shared such as New Years Eve food comas, saving birds from harmful plastics to eating late night Wendy’s and McDonald’s pies.
Groomsman
Jarrod and the groom have known each other since the 1st grade. Many years have passed since then. One of the earliest memories that the two share is their famous 6th grade science experiment where they would only use foil, a magnifying glass and the heat of the sun! Turns out…they both didn’t end up pursuing a career as a scientist later in life. Rather, Jarrod ended up going on to Oregon State University where he pursued a double major in management and finance as well as a MBA and now works as a Business Analyst. Growing up the two would spend countless hours fighting Aliens, ninja defusing bombs, slaying zombies and battling it out to become the first triple crown winner of the Horizon Premier. Since high school the two continue to blaze new trails and start new adventures that can range from slaying dragons with class, overdosing on lava flows and mai tais, rallying for a night out in Scottsdale, to late night runs to In and Out.
Ring Bearer
James, more commonly known as Ed is the ring bearer for the couples big day. Ed first met the couple in May 2021 while he was living in Scottsdale, Arizona at that time no one really knew Ed. The groom had planned a weekend getaway with 20 of the couples closest friends where the best man (Todd) had invited Ed to partake in the shenanigans with the group. Thus blossomed the unexpected close relationship between Ed and the couple which continues to flourish with crazy fun movie nights, dinner outings, holiday parties, questionable antics, and dating endeavours. Ed has a contagious laugh which makes everything 10x funnier and a great big heart that makes everyone feel like family. Ed played a key role in the planning and execution of the engagement through his generosity and selflessness of opening his home to the friends and family who attended the engagement. Though he tries to flee the state time and time again, the couple along with other close friends have successfully hijacked his ability to do so because we love having him around too much to share.
