How We Met

Louis and I met on the National Tour of Irving Berlin's White Christmas in 2012. I was excited to be a part of my first national tour as a dancer in the ensemble and Louis was the drummer. It was during one of our final rehearsals in NYC before hitting the road when I first laid eyes on Louis. For our final run-throughs, Louis was drumming his heart out in the corner of the studio. At the top of the show is a high-energy tap number to the song "Let Yourself Go" in which I was positioned to dance right in front of where Louis and his drums were set up. I saw him and thought "Oh! He's cute!" He was also wearing a Red Sox hat! Louis remembers our eyes meeting from across a crowded room at our opening night cast party in Hershey, PA (just like the song says). Our first official conversation was at the call-board in that theatre after opening night. He asked me if I wanted to go to the gym with him the next day (his idea of trying to spend time with me and get to know me). I didn't take the hint so I said "Oh! I don't workout" (Dance had always been my "workout"). Louis replied, "Must be nice." This was the first of many failed attempts by both of us at getting to know each other. Despite our awkwardness, things eventually worked out (Insert long funny story here) and we became pretty inseparable from that point on. Once the tour ended, it was back to reality, but we still talked every day and Louis stayed in NYC which allowed us to continue seeing each other. Over the last eight and a half years, Louis has filled my life with so much love and joy I never thought possible. Each day gets better and we grow stronger in our partnership. He is my best friend and I can't wait to marry him and begin the next phase of our incredible journey together! Louis also says that since I put this whole thing in the first person if you want to hear HIS version just ask! ;-)

The Proposal

December 16, 2018

Louis was out on the White Christmas tour again and I was at Radio City. The tour was finishing up their run in Denver, CO and about to move to Orlando, FL. I like to track his plane whenever he flies so he gave me what I thought was his flight information. It was an early flight so he made it convincing by asking me to give him a "wake-up call". I had a 9am show so that was no problem. When I tried to FaceTime him in the dressing room he didn't answer and I got worried. He finally texted that he was up and ready. In actuality, he did not answer my call because he was NOT in Denver and he was NOT on his way to Orlando. He was at our apartment in NYC! After my last show of the day, I had been scheduled to do a Backstage Meet-And-Greet with a "VIP Executive and his family." I was to stay in costume and stay backstage when the curtain came down. My friend Gaff was put on the event with me. We waited a long time after the show and were positioned in a spot that was not near the stage at all. After about 10-15 minutes we were ushered out to the stage. I saw a line up of my friends posing in their best Rockette Bevel with Santa's Sleigh (used in the show) and A Santa sitting on the far side. I thought we were walking in on another "event." This Santa bounces off the sleigh and starts talking to us. He talked to me about how he heard that Radio City is the place where all of my dreams came true. He was now hoping that it could be "the same stage where all of his dreams come true." He then prompted the girls in the line, all wearing jackets, to reveal their shirts. Each one had a letter taped on them that spelled out "Will You Marry Me!?" I turned around and Louis was on one knee, Santa hat and beard ripped off, and ring in hand. He had the cutest look on his face when he asked "Will you marry me?" ... Of course I said "YES!!!" Mom, Dad, and Grandma were there in the wings watching the entire time! I was so happy to see them! Louis really thought of EVERYTHING!
