Travel Note
The travel information on this page is directed to guests who are planning on traveling directly to the Amalfi Coast from the United States. There are infinite travel possibilities for guests to experience other parts of Italy and even other locations in Europe both prior to and after our wedding. While we encourage guests to structure their travels as is best individually suited for them, we will only be providing travel suggestions for arriving directly to Ravello from the United States. For any travel on the coast, we strongly advise against renting a car for yourself due to the winding roads and differing Italian traffic laws.
Flight
The Naples International Airport (NAP) is the closest airport to Ravello, Italy and is the suggested airport for guests to fly to if traveling directly to the Amalfi coast from the United States. Only 5 airports in the United States have direct flights to Naples (PHL, EWR, JFK, ORD, and ATL). To best break up their travel, we suggest that guests fly overnight to Naples, spend one night in Naples, and either take the ferry, the train, the bus, or a taxi to the Amalfi Coast. Additional information on the ferry, train, and bus connections are below.
Travel Note
The Alibus shuttle can be taken from NAP to either the Naples P. Garibaldi Train Station or Molo Beverello, the main port in Naples. Tickets for the Alibus can be purchased online ahead of time but also purchased from a kiosk in NAP. Customer service in NAP can easily direct you to the kiosk to purchase Alibus tickets and you can subsequently follow the signs to the Alibus pickup location that is a short walk outside of the airport.
Travel Note
A ferry ride from Naples to the city of Amalfi is our suggested travel experience. There are two ferry companies that leave Molo Beverello and travel to the Amalfi Coast, NLG (Navigazione Libera del Golfo) and Positano Jet. Both ferries run daily at varying times with travel times to Amalfi averaging around 2 hours for a cost of about €21–36 per person. The ferry ride provides beautiful coastal views throughout the duration of the trip and snacks and beverages are sold (cash only) on board to add to your experience. Guests who ride the ferry may also choose to stop at Sorrento (NLG) or Positano (Positano Jet) to enjoy extended travel plans.
Travel Note
No reservations are needed for taxis from NAP directly to Ravello. Taxis are always available outside Terminal 1 (Arrivals). A direct taxi to Ravello may range from €130–150. Guests may also make taxi reservations through their hotel if they stay overnight in Naples. While Uber is available in Italy, it is not recommended as the app only contacts existing taxi companies and may add additional charges compared to guests contacting the same taxi company directly.
Travel Note
Another option for travel from NAP to the Amalfi Coast is taking a train from the Napoli Centrale / Piazza Garibaldi train stations to Sorrento. There are two trains that travel to Sorrento from the train station, Circumvesuviana (local commuter train) and Campania Express (tourist train). The local commuter train is less expensive, but is more packed and does not guarantee seating for the hour ride to Sorrento. A taxi can be taken from Sorrento to Ravello. The NLG ferry also departs from Sorrento and travels to Amalfi.
Travel Note
There are three options for travel from Amalfi to Ravello: private taxi, mini shuttle, or SITA bus. A private taxi can be arranged at the Amalfi port/taxi stand, through your hotel, or in advance. A mini shuttle can be arranged at the Amalfi bus terminal or potentially through your hotel. The SITA bus is a public transportation option that departs from the Amalfi bus terminal and arrives at the Ravello town center. All options range from a 15-30 min travel time.
