Bumble November 2019... dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Sallisaw, OK while Megan was on a Rural Rotation in Medical School...
bonding despite tumultuous conditions of the world
Joshua proposed March 2021 with beautiful white and rose gold diamond ring requesting to be Megan's "forever person" with a discussion of dreams for a future regardless of geographic location.
The couple thought that they would take their time, be engaged for a year or so, and plan a wedding sometime in 2022..... Who can pull a wedding off in a short time frame anyway? Especially with upcoming graduation, move, residency, ect........
After a particularly challenging sermon series, the couple both came to the conclusion separately and together that it was important to them to get married prior to moving in together and relocating to Kansas for Megan's career. Maci and Mason, children born from Joshua's first marriage, are both an integral part of the couple's relationship and instant family. Even though Megan is not related by blood; she has a mother's heart and strives to share with them Christ's love as she experienced growing up.
Prior to the engagement, the couple had planned to travel to Florida and spend a week with Megan's family while relaxing at the beach. As plans came together it was decided that a Destination Wedding to Panama City, FL would suit their plans perfectly... a few items were bought, pound cake was baked, flowers lovingly arranged and we had ourselves a wedding on the beach!

After graduating medical school from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine May of 2021, Megan began her Pediatric Residency in July of 2021. She will continue working with KU Pediatrics and Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS through June 2024. She has clinical duties in outpatient pediatric clinic along with caring for hospitalized patients on the pediatric floor, PICU, NICU, and Newborns. There will be opportunities for her to spend time with multiple specialties to expand her clinical medical experiences. Due to the high volume of local Hematology/Oncology patients that are treated in Wichita, Megan is getting a lot of experience assisting in the management of their care. Her passion for this patient population is ever-growing as she continues to take care of cancer patients and their families. Exactly how this will play out in her career path has yet to be determined; potentials of Hem/Onc Fellowship, OMM Fellowship, Long-Term Oncology Follow-up Clinic, ect... The world is her Oyster!
Some of the ingredients blend really well together, other ingredients separate like oil and water....... So to end up with a delicious cookie you just have to keep mixing and mixing and mixing and eventually, it all comes together with a little sweat, hard work, (maybe a few tears) and the finished product is a delight! (that's the goal) Something that you know you had a hand in creating, maybe not perfect but often better than you imagined!!!
As you can see we have been a bit behind announcing our wedding much less even starting to plan a "Reception" or "Post Wedding Party".... As soon as we get one planned YOU will be invited to celebrate with our family and hopefully without travel restrictions and distancing.
