Crested Butte is knows as the Wildflower capital of the World and is referenced to as one of the last true mountain towns in Colorado. We believe there is a bit of magic in this town, you can feel it when you drive in. We have fallen in love all over this town and is a true representation of our story.
If you’re staying at the Old Town Inn then it’s just an easy walk across the street and behind the school to our wedding venue. There is a small bit of parking right at the venue for those who choose to drive, the school parking lot is also available. This is right at the entrance of town, the Town Ranch Event Area.
Because it is a mountain town, the weather can be very unpredictable so it is safe to assume you will need to be prepared for both warm and cold temperatures. We have visited in June before and experienced highs in the 70,s and lows in the 30,s. We certainly hope for clear skies and sun but there’s always the chance of a cold front with snow showers in the mountains even in the summer months. Basically we recommend coming prepared for anything!
We recommend stopping in Gunnison before heading into Crested Butte for gas and groceries if you need any of that because it will be cheaper there and they will have a better selection of goods.
Where most everything is walkable in Crested Butte, there is a free town shuttle to get you around town (the colorful fun busses!) and to get you to Mount Crested Butte (which is the ski village of Crested Butte a few minutes ride up the road) There’s a few stops through town, one of which being right by Old Town Inn and Clark’s Market off Bellview. There’s lots of shops, restaurants, and the best smoked wings at Butte 66 up at Mount Crested Butte plus it’s a beautiful ride in the bus.
