Brewed To Be

Because God was crafting our story all along

Megan was born in Arizona to her parents, Keith and Vivian, and lived there until she was 10 years old. That year marked a turning point in her life when her dad, Keith, was saved, and the family began attending Pleasant View Baptist Church. From that moment on, everything began to change. As her father followed the Lord’s leading, he made the decision to take his family with him wherever his work led. This journey took them to several different states over the years—first to Nevada, then to Texas, and eventually to Georgia when Megan was 16. There, they became part of Heritage Baptist Church. It was during a Tuesday evening service, under the preaching of Preacher Lee Davis, that Megan accepted Christ as her personal Savior. In the months that followed, she attended several youth meetings that stirred her heart and deepened her desire to serve. She began working on her church’s van route, helping bring others to church. A few years later, God led her family once again, this time to North Carolina. When they found Berean Baptist Church, they were thrilled to discover a bus ministry where they could continue serving. And it was through that very ministry that Megan met Joseph. ———————————————— Joseph was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His parents, Crystal and Andy, were both actively involved in ministry at a church in Statesville—his mother served as the church pianist, and his father drove a bus. It was in that environment that Joseph was first introduced to the heart of ministry. When he was three years old, his family became members of Berean Baptist Church, where they continued faithfully serving under Pastor Baity’s leadership. His preaching and example played a significant role in shaping Joseph’s spiritual life. On April 1st, 2015, at the age of 12, Joseph trusted Jesus as his Savior while at home. The very next day, he felt the Lord calling him to preach. After graduating high school, Joseph joined the staff at Berean Baptist Church, where he continues to serve and is currently being mentored by Pastor Ron Baity. During this season, the Lord began to stir his heart with a desire for a godly wife. On Mother’s Day, during a sermon about the importance of godly mothers and wives, Joseph clearly felt the Lord impress Megan on his heart—and from there, their story began to unfold.

Common Grounds

Spring 2021

Joseph and Megan had been going to the same church since 2019, but they didn’t really notice each other until 2021, when the bus ministry started back up after taking a break during COVID. That’s when Joseph started to stand out more—especially to Megan’s family. They were the first to notice him and gently (or not so gently) began nudging her in his direction. On May 3rd, 2021, Megan received her first text from Joseph, casually asking if they needed any more jars. She replied—and then he just kept texting and texting. At the time, she had no idea just how much that one simple message would change everything. ———————————————— After the Mother’s Day sermon, Joseph felt God clearly directing his heart toward Megan. He introduced himself to her and her family, and right away, Megan’s parents struck up a conversation with him, specifically about coffee and jars. They asked if he drank a lot of coffee and whether he liked the Starbucks Frappuccino in the glass bottles because they reused them for storing spices. Joseph said he did. Later on, it would come out that he didn’t actually like them, he just wanted a chance to get to know Megan better. Determined to take that next step, Joseph got her phone number through the bus director. He sent her a message… and then another… and then just kept on texting.

A Brew-tiful Beginning

Summer 2021

After that first message in May, Joseph and Megan started talking more and slowly but surely, Joseph slowly started to charm his way into her heart. In June, the ladies at church asked Megan to bake a cake for his surprise graduation reception (you’ll find it on the gallery page!). Nervous and maybe a little distracted, she accidentally spelled his name wrong on the cake. Despite the typo, things kept moving forward, and on July 9, 2021, they met with their pastor, Ron Baity to get counsel and officially begin their relationship.

A Match-a Made In Heaven

July 2021 - May 2025

Joseph and Megan faithfully serve together in the bus ministry Megan as the captain of Bus 1 and Joseph as the captain of Bus 2. Joseph was also given the opportunity to teach the teen class on Sunday mornings, and a few months later, Megan joined him in that ministry as well. It became another meaningful way they could serve side by side. Over the next four years, they discovered just how much they had in common. Some of their favorite things included visiting new coffee shops, hiking, and trying all kinds of different foods but truthfully, they simply loved doing life together, no matter what it was.

She Asked For Coffee, He Brought Forever

Spring 2025

In April 2025, after securing Keith’s blessing, Joseph bought Megan’s engagement ring and began keeping a journal to capture all the special moments leading up to the proposal. His original plan was to propose on June 2nd but keeping a secret that big proved nearly impossible (and let’s just say, Megan was very ready for that ring!). As it turned out, the perfect moment came sooner than expected. On May 3rd, 2025—exactly four years from the day they first started talking—Joseph proposed. That morning, Megan asked Joseph to make one of his “masterful” cups of espresso, not knowing just how memorable that cup would be. Moments after enjoying her espresso, Joseph led her into the old sanctuary of the church. There, in that quiet and meaningful place, he asked her to marry him. With tears of joy, Megan said yes.

On A More Serious Note

One of the deepest desires Megan and Joseph share for their relationship is to glorify God in all that they do. More than anything else, they want to be sure that everyone who visits their page or celebrates with them knows the most important question you could ever answer: Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior? If you’re not sure, we’d love to share the simple truth of the Gospel—what we call the ABC’s of Salvation: A – Accept that you are a sinner. The Bible tells us: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” – Romans 3:10 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23 We all fall short of God’s perfect standard. No one is “good enough” on their own—we all need a Savior. B – Believe that Jesus died for your sins. The Bible says: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9 Jesus came, died, and rose again to pay for your sin—because He loves you. C – Call upon the name of the Lord. This is God’s promise to you: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13 Salvation is not about religion or works—it’s about trusting Jesus personally. Would you like to trust Christ today? If you believe what you’ve read and want to receive Jesus as your Savior, you can call on Him in prayer right now. Words don’t save you—faith does—but here’s a simple prayer you can pray from your heart: Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Right now, I place my trust in You alone to save me. Please forgive me, come into my heart, and make me Yours. Thank You for loving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen. If you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, the Bible says you are saved. Praise the Lord!
