Megan and Jaylen attended school together from kindergarten through second grade at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora, IL. Jaylen remembers Megan as the girl with the unibrow (Megan very much wishes he'd forget this memory. Thankfully she's learned to wax since then). Several years later they met again in high school. The first couple years their friendship blossomed. They'd hang out at basketball games or get down at a school dance. The summer before junior year of high school, Jaylen asked Megan if she'd be his "honey bunches of oats" and the rest is history. Since then, the've shared 9+ years of love, adventure, and laughter.

On October 16, 2020, Megan woke up to Jaylen saying, "get dolled up, pack a bag, and be ready to leave by 2:45." Anyone who knows Megan knows she is a planner, so having no idea what was happening or what to pack was a little stressful. She soon learned that Jaylen had planned a little getaway weekend to northern Minnesota to see the fall colors before winter hit. He suggested that on the way they stop at Megan's family's cabin to see the fall colors there, since the cabin is always closed up at the end of summer. When they arrived at the cabin, Jaylen took Megan's hand as they walked down the driveway and around to the front of the house. Megan had no idea what was about to happen, so she didn't even notice the lights and the decorations at first. A few steps later when it finally clicked, Megan yelled, "Is it happening? Oh my gosh it's happening!" At the end of the pathway of leaves Jaylen had raked, he got down on one knee under an arch of lights and asked Megan to marry him. She of course said yes!
