We crossed paths on occasion in high school, attending some of the same get togethers in Towson. In 2010, the summer after our freshmen year of college, we both lived in Ocean City, MD. Ironically, we also both worked at The Hobbit restaurant on 81st Street. Megan was a hostess and Jason was a bus boy. We were cordial over the years, but it wasn’t until October 2016 that we became more than friends. Jason took the train up to Baltimore from DC to watch the Ravens play the Redskins. Megan had just moved to Baltimore from Philadelphia, and she and her roommate decided to ditch the unpacking and head to the game. Thankfully, Jason missed the early train back to DC after the loss, and headed to Mother’s to continue the Sunday Funday. We sparked up a conversation (shout out Katie Carroll) at the Purple Patio that would lead us to our first date. Our first “official” date was a hike in Great Falls, VA, followed by drinks and dinner in Georgetown, DC. We’ve been on an adventure ever since.
Labor Day, 2019. Jason asked Megan to go out on her parent’s Boston Whaler to hop around Middle River, where she grew up sailing with her family. They pulled out of Sue Creek and he asked if she wanted to drive. She took over, and when she turned around, he was down on a knee. Jason surprised her and had both of their families meet up with them at a local bar on the water afterwards.
