We first met on a night out at Hofbräuhaus in 2017 while both attending Duquesne University. Jake tried to convince Megan that he really did go to Duquesne, but since she had never seen him in the library or anywhere on campus, she wasn’t so sure. Even when she learned that he lived with some of her friends who went to Duquesne, she still didn’t believe him! About a year later, after running into each other around the city, Megan finally accepted that Jake actually was a student there. In January 2019, they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend after Jake cleverly asked Megan while on a date at The Candle Lab in Lawrenceville. Not long after, Jake adopted a cat named Rey—who Megan was absolutely terrified of at first. With time (and her love for Jake), she overcame that fear, and now neither of them can imagine life without Rey. In 2020, Megan became an honorary fourth roommate while Jake was living with his two friends in Bloomfield. By 2022, Jake and Megan moved in together on Mt. Washington, where they’ve happily made a home ever since. In May 2025, Megan convinced Jake to take four international flights to explore Europe with her, his sister and brother-in-law, and some friends along the way. On the first stop of the trip in Iceland, Jake convinced Megan to marry him—while she was in her pajamas and puffin slipper socks. Truth be told, she didn’t need any convincing at all. We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you! Get ready to laugh, cry, dance & party! With love, Jake & Meg (soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Johnson)
