How We Met

September 2019

Curiously, there are two separate accounts on how the future bride and groom met each other. The bride is known to stretch the truth from time to time, but we will include both stories here and let the readers decide which is true. Groom Point-of-View: Megan and I met in Fishersville, VA at physician-assistant graduate school. Being one year behind me, Megan and I had a single semester when her didactic year was just beginning as I was finishing up my book studies. Many think it was love at first sight. Classmate and bridesmaid Jessica Mills is known to have labeled Jacob as Megan's "boyfriend" soon after the two met. They hit it off instantly. While she was hesitant to start into a relationship, he longed to be with her. Despite their differences, they had one important thing in common: they were crazy about each other. Megan finally agreed to date Jake, and the rest is history. Bride Point-of-View: The true story of how Jacob and I met is not exactly the cutest of stories. While it is true we attended the same PA school, we did not talk once during our time together at school. However, when I was doing my clinical rotations in my hometown of Bethel Park, Jacob and I "matched" on a dating app called Hinge. We spent a lot of time together in this first month as I was to spend the rest of my clinical year outside of the state. These few weeks together were enough to know we were meant for each other.

The Proposal

November 20th, 2021

Act I: Brick and Barrel After more than two years into our relationship, Megan and I were wanting our parents to meet. Her parents were able to come from Maryland and we arranged to all meet for dinner at a restaurant Megan and I love called "Brick and Barrel". This is an old two-story home turned into restaurant and Whiskey bar. Megan was under the impression that this was simply a dinner for our parents to meet. What Megan thought: our parents were already seated when we arrived, seated at a normal table, eating dinner as they met for the first time. What Megan didn't know: our parents were not seated but hiding out of sight, our parents had already met, we were being seated in a private room which was decorated and that I would get on one knee as her and I entered the room. After asking the love of my life to marry me (she said yes!!!!!), we celebrated with champagne and a dinner with both of our parents. Act II: Surprise Party Part two of my master plan was another surprise. While we were enjoying dinner, I had most of our friends gather at our house. There they waited for us to arrive. Megan thought she was walking into an empty house, but instead she walked into a surprise party with some of our closest friends and family. This was incredibly special to both of us. I would say we would never forget that night, but due to the amount of alcohol ingested, that is not exactly accurate. That being said, that was one of the best days of our lives.
