Driving information
It is about a 4 hour drive from Phoenix or Tucson. About 1 hour of the drive is past the border, in Mexico. Overall, this is a very pleasant and safe drive. It is a "hassle free zone." They want the tourists to make the trip! However, there are a few things to keep in mind: You should absolutely purchase Mexican car insurance, or see if you can add it temporarily through your own. We have used: https://mexipass.com/ and https://www.bestmex.com/en/ and both get the job done are are affordable! There are also many places you can stop and purchase in person in Ajo if you forget to purchase it before you've started the trip! Obey all traffic laws. Specifically, make sure that you are not speeding, and that you come to a full complete stop at all stop signs. This is particularly important in Sonoyta, the town just past the border. It is also a good idea to have some amount of cash on hand. Dollars are generally accepted, so you should not need to worry about converting any currency. There will be ample bottled water available at the house, and if you are not staying with us, your accommodation should provide water as well. It's generally not advised to drink the tap water! You do need a passport or passport card. The line to cross back into the U.S. is generally longer, remember to factor this into your travel plans! On a Sunday, it's common for the crossing to take ~1 hour. Following covid, the border now closes at 8pm.

These condos are very close to the wedding, on the same beach! We have stayed here once before, and it was great! If this specific condo is booked, search for "Paradise Villas" in Puerto Penaso, there are 19 different condos all owned separately.
