We met through mutual friends in Kentucky on a night out. We didn't think much of it when we first met, even though everyone kept hinting that sparks would fly. I thought Jacob was kind of adorkable with his glasses and button up and Jacob thought I was cute in my pink dress and adidas shoes. We spent a great weekend with our friends kayaking, exploring Lexington, hanging out and talking with each other. We kept in touch after my trip and decided to continue getting to know each other long distance.

So of course Jacob followed me to Texas for medical residency and I should have seen it coming.... We planned a birthday weekend in Galveston, TX for Jacob. We rented a house, invited our friends and in the middle of intense conversation and baking a birthday cake, Jacob stands up to make a speech. I look at him slightly confused with a messy head of hair and a crop top, looking a mess and stand beside him as he gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. It was simple, perfect and I was completely surprised!
