Megan and Jackson both attended SMU and lived in the same freshman year dorm. At first they did not see much of each other. Megan would often be found in the library, while Jackson would sometimes accidentally walk into the library. As luck would have it, Megan and Jackson were introduced to each other at SMU’s local watering hole, OT Tavern. They started dating in the spring of 2018, on a road trip down to Austin. Everyone knows the rest of the story from there. They spent the rest of college dating, traveling to Seaside at any chance they could get. Through internships, formals, concerts, and everything in between, Megan and Jackson’s love for each other strengthened and grew to new bounds. They graduated college together in 2020. They moved into together after college and still live together in Dallas today!
On December 17th 2022, Jackson proposed in Fredericksburg, TX at Barons Creek Vineyards. Megan thought this was just another one of their many wine weekends, but Jackson had other plans in store. When they set out for their first wine tasting at Augusta Vin Saturday morning, Megan immediately tracked her family to see if they were in Dallas or Fredericksburg (if you know Megan well, then you also know that she spent the entire year leading up to this trying to spoil her own surprise). Megan was devastated when she saw her family was still in Dallas, as she assumed they would be there when Jackson proposed. After giving up all hopes for a proposal, Megan decided to make the best of the weekend anyways and they happily headed to their second wine tasting at Barons Creek Vineyards. After completing their tasting and enjoying a couple glasses of wine on the patio, Megan and Jackson packed up to head home. As they got up to leave, Jackson last minute said "well I actually booked a special tour upstairs". Jackson led Megan up to the top of the bell tower where blue hydrangeas were waiting on the table. Jackson immediately got down on one knee and proposed during a gorgeous Texas sunset.
Megan's mom first went to Seaside as a babysitter in college, and immediately dreamed of taking her future family to this perfect little beach town. The Meineckes took their first summer vacation to Seaside in 1999, and have not missed a summer since! Their house is named Blessings by the Sea, which so perfectly describes the joy it has brought to this family. Blessings by the Sea and the small town of Seaside quickly became Megan's happy place as her love for the beach only continued to grow - a trait she likely inherited from her mom. She often sought solace here after a week of long tests, a grueling week of finals, or a particularly hard month of work. Megan is known to never turn down a mimosa-fueled beach day and is often found dragging her family to sunset to see some cotton candy clouds. Megan loves getting to share Seaside with those closest to her, and has been dragging Jackson on beach vacations since 2018! Jackson enjoys all of Seaside, minus the sunburns. Megan has always dreamed of getting married in Seaside and is so happy to finally see this dream come to life. Thank you all for joining us in our happy place and we can't wait for you to love Seaside just as much as we do!
