Forever Begins

He says… It was on the Facebook dating app of all places I saw this picture of a beautiful woman with shoulder length hair, reddish highlights and a smile that lit up the room. That picture was the only thing I needed to swipe right on her. The rest west history. Fast forward a week or so to the 25th of April, on a beautiful Sunday morning, we had our first date at a coffee shop in Portland called Presso Coffee. It was love at first sight. She was wearing a cute black turtle neck with a long brown fluffy coat, dawning her signature leopard print mask with eyes sparkling like morning dew. She was just gorgeous. My heart skipped a beat and my mind started planning a life for us. I am so blessed to have come into contact with such a confident, intellectual, thoughtful, and caring individual. She says….. Ill never forget the day I opened my Facebook app and a message popped up from a gentleman with the most enticing smile. I had just moved to Portland and was putting my feet back into the dating waters. I wasnt looking for anything specific, but the moment I read “You are absolutely adorable, I would love to take you to coffee this weekend” I knew my life was about to change. He was direct, had kind eyes and thought I was adorable. How could I say no?! We met that following Sunday at Presso Coffee in Portland and I’ll never forget the way my heart dropped the moment I saw him - he felt like home. I’ve heard others talk about this moment, this feeling but after 36 years I didn’t think it was possible for me and here I was standing in it. 3 hours later and the rest was history, I didn’t want to leave his side. I knew I had found the one my heart had been looking for ♥️

Where do we even begin. We had been talking about marriage now for a few months. We knew it was the next step for us, just didn’t know when. Megan was ready, looking at rings & sending him hints. He always giggled when he received another link. I had no idea he’d already been planning since day one. Our relationship had developed quickly but we both knew without a doubt we had found our future. Fast forward to November, Edric was in an especially giddy mood. He had finally gotten the ring & was so ready to ask me to be his wife. I remember him telling me he planned a date day for us on the 13th. I was so excited to get to spend a full day with my man with no interruptions. It had been a busy time for us. He kept throwing out hints, then told me to make sure I felt beautiful that day. He wanted it to be special, I had to keep telling myself to not expect anything. I wanted to enjoy the day for whatever it was. The morning of Nov 13th, he took me to the Portland Japanese Garden. We both had never been before. Once we arrived, I was a little nervous because it was an uphill hike to the actual garden. My lungs have not been the same since my PE’s & I knew this wasn’t going to be easy. He was so patient & encouraging, we took our time to the top. Once there, I quickly found an empty bench to catch my breath. I was sweaty, flushed & trying to compose myself as this sweet man began to share his heart with me. I so clearly remember him saying to me, “there is no better time then now especially after this up hill struggle up we just accomplished together”, then he got down on one knee & proceeded to ask me to marry him. My mind went blank the minute his knee hit the ground, I just looked at him in shock saying yes over and over again. He finally got the ring on my finger and had to read me his speech again later that day. It was such a beautifully surreal moment. He stole my heart once again and promised me forever, we’ll never forget that day for the rest of our lives.
