Clayton and I met early in 2019 at NDSU. I was in a group project with one of his roommates. Our group often visited their house to work on these projects and I ended up becoming friends with Clayton's roommate. One night, I intended to go to the bars with my friends and Clayton had volunteered to drive us. Once we got to the bar, we saw a large line that neither Clayton or I wanted to stand in. This resulted in a night at my apartment filled with laughter, studying for tests, and a connection we tried to ignore. We couldn't ignore that connection, and Clayton decided to make a huge change in his life. After graduation in May 2019, he moved to Montana to be near me (and his sister Olivia, of course). This was a move I had been planning since the fall of 2018. Our time in Montana was filled with countless adventures and so much joy. However, we missed our family and friends and moved to Minnesota in July 2020. Fast forward to January 2021. Clayton suggested a weekend trip to Duluth and I happily agreed. We left the morning of January 30th and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Duluth Grill. We meandered in downtown shops until we were ready to head to Gooseberry Falls. The weather was incredible and the snow falling was nothing less than magical. It made us both remember how wonderful our God is and how beautiful nature is. Our second stop was Split Rock lighthouse. The wind had picked up, and the snow was still falling heavily. As we stood up there freezing, but trying to enjoy the view, Clayton got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him. We celebrated our engagement that night at a small town bar in Beaver Bay, MN. The locals bought us drinks and the bar paid for our meal. We reminisced about the life God had given us so far while dreaming of what's ahead. It truly was the perfect day. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We're so excited to celebrate with you!
