We officially met in high school, though we had crossed paths since we were kids. We both had the same Spanish class and were on the cross country team for a while together. The first time we really talked, Christian asked for a drink of Megan's Dr. Pepper when playing tennis with mutual friends (well, Christian was playing, Megan was just watching). From there, we continued to talk to each other whenever we could. We started dating in 2008 and have been together ever since, following each other to the same colleges and growing together for 12 years.
Christian's brother and mom (Beau and Morgan) were in town so we went to our usual breakfast spot for coffee and brunch followed by a hike out at J.T Nickel Nature Preserve, which is a favorite spot of ours just outside of Tahlequah. The hike is mainly grassy hills with great overlooks of the surrounding valley, but at the very end there is this great pine forest at the top of a ridge. It is our favorite part of the hike. It was a beautiful, sunny , warm day for January so I walked to the edge of the forest ridge when we got to the top. I heard footsteps behind me and turned around to see Christian down on one knee! Ahh! Turns out they had this planned all along and Beau had hiked with the ring box in his jacket the whole time. We celebrated by getting tacos and queso after. It was a perfect day. Nothing makes us happier than spending time together, whether that is just staying home or being with friends and family. We are truly each other's best friends and biggest fans. We could not be more excited to continue on this journey that is life, walking hand in hand through it all.
Face masks and hand sanitizer will be provided to each guest and our venue will be set up to maintain social distancing as much as possible. In order to protect our loved ones attending the wedding, we ask that face masks be worn unless eating or drinking. We will update with any changes to our big day as they occur. Lets take care of each other and have a great time!
