We first met each other at the University of Kansas, at a party for our engineering fellowship program on August 25, 2017. Carter thought Megan was beautiful, liked her smile, and wanted to get to know her. Megan was intrigued by the handsome guy playing beer pong. While that night did not lead to a first date, it led to the exchanging of Instagrams and continuing on with their lives, passing by frequently in the school of engineering. Time went on and Carter graduated from KU in 2020 and Megan was in her senior year. On December 11th, 2020 we reconnected via social media. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and Megan being home for winter break, we continued to text for almost 2 months until our first date on January 30, 2021. Our first date was at Carter’s apartment in Lawrence due to covid restrictions. Carter invited Megan over to watch a Blues hockey game and for drinks (Megan's favorite, Old Fashions, which Carter said was his specialty but then immediately had to actually learn how to make). After the hockey game, we did not want the night to end, so we continued to talk late into the night and eventually watched the penguin surfing movie Surfs Up…which Megan may have dozed off during. Our first date made an impression because the rest of Megan's final semester of college carried on with various dates between the two of us. Megan then graduated from KU class of 2021 and was set to return to her home of St. Louis, MO to begin working as a technology consultant. With long distance looming over us, graduation was bitter sweet. Since Carter's graduation was cancelled because of COVID-19, and Megan’s was delayed because of weather, the KU classes of 2020 and 2021 were walking down the hill together. While we each chose to walk with our respective friends, we did manage to take a photo together that day. After Megan moved away from Lawrence, we started long distance and began visiting each other every few weeks. We this for a year until Megan requested a transfer at her job to move back to Kansas (A decision she now says is one of the best she's ever made). After Megan moved into her own place in Kansas, we continued to grow and strengthen our relationship. We went on many fun adventures, such as travelling to Memphis for KU’s 2022 bowl game, seeing the world's largest ball of twine, and even becoming KU football season ticket holders so we can go to every game, etc. What started at a house party at KU led to the Campanile, where Carter asked Megan to marry him.
