Cameron and Megan met at the beginning of the winter season 3.5 years ago. He had just started as a front desk agent at the Keystone Lodge and Spa about the same time she had just picked up everything and moved from North Carolina to Colorado to be a barista in the Edgewater Cafe (which is located within the Keystone Lodge and Spa). She was just trying out something new for the winter. Cameron was always scheduled for the 7am shift and definitely not a morning person… Therefore, he started coming down to the cafe where Megan worked to get caramel macchiatos. (Although interestingly enough he’s not much of a coffee person anymore ;)) Megan remembers thinking the first time she met Cameron… “There’s no way this guy is single”. However, as his visits became more frequent we started to talk a lot about snowboarding, a common topic around here. He really wanted to take her out and show her the ropes but she really wasn’t any good yet and didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of this super handsome man, so she intentionally procrastinated on this for a bit. In the midst of Megan’s procrastinating, Cameron broke his wrist allowing her more time to practice… But then came Christmas week. It was Friday December 21st and it was pay day! Cameron had worked that day and had a guest rave to him at the front desk about Montezuma Roadhouse, a nice steakhouse located in Keystone. We had been texting that day and he casually but convincingly said “hey, I’m actually going to check out this restaurant that this lady raved about to me today, you should come check it out with me… It sounds really good!” Megan got dressed and met him there, not knowing it was actually a pretty nice steakhouse. The whole time that night neither one of them knew if it was a date or just hanging out with a new friend, but they clicked so instantly. After dinner they started playing pool and then carried on the night with more pool at Dos Locos, the Mexican restaurant in town where Cameron worked part time. The conversations were perfect and Megan knew she never wanted them to end. At this time she could only hope they would lead to more… but Cameron felt it too so they planned an actual date. That was how it all began but the part of our story that cannot be overlooked was the the day when Megan knew this was the one true love she had long awaited for. It was the day Cameron took her to Arapahoe Basin for the first time. This was their second day snowboarding together and Megan had heard that this “A-Basin” was where all the locals who actually knew what they were doing went. But Cameron is a phenomenal teacher and motivator. He gave her every ounce of confidence that was all she needed to get better. Megan remembers that day coming up over a hill and Cameron saying “this way… we’re going this way!” When she looked down over the hill, it was nothing but moguls. (If you aren’t familiar with these it’s basically A LOT of bumps and A LOT of steering). In that moment she thought “this guy must have lost his mind! Theres no way I’ll ever make it down this!” But he had so much belief in her that they did it! (She only fell a few times but jumped right back up and kept going. It was just the turning point in Megan’s snowboarding confidence that she needed to get better. But the moment that Megan will truly never ever forget was driving back down the mountain that day, back to Keystone. They were listening to one of her favorite songs and she was smiling harder than ever. In that overwhelming happy moment, she looked over at Cameron and thought to herself “wow, I really like this guy, like a lot” and without skipping a beat he looked back at Megan as if he had read her mind and said “I know, I really like you a lot too”. After that the best years of their lives have been spent adventuring, exploring, and pushing their own individual boundaries together. Cameron makes Megan a better person everyday and she does the same for him.
