Before we met, I was living in Austin, TX… and absolutely hated it. I spent nearly every weekend making the 3.5-hour drive back to my parents’ home in Lucas. I knew I wanted to move back for good, but taking that leap, and quitting my job, felt scary. One weekend, my parents planned a night out at Ranch House with some close friends. As we were getting ready, my mom warned me, “There’s not much of a young crowd there.” When it was finally time to leave, my dad asked what was taking me so long. I jokingly replied, “You never know, Dad… I could meet my future husband tonight.” Turns out, Mom was right, it was definitely an older crowd. But I’ve always loved hanging out with my parents and their friends, so I was having a great time anyway… until three guys my age walked through the door. That’s when I locked eyes with Braxton. If love at first sight exists, this was it. Unfortunately, Braxton didn’t quite work up the courage to ask me to dance right away. We passed each other on the dance floor again and again—locking eyes every time—while I danced with my dad and he danced with everyone except me. As the night started winding down and my parents talked about leaving, I panicked. Was this really going to be a “what could’ve been” moment? I vented to my mom, who immediately told my dad (much to my horror). Dad didn’t hesitate for a second. “Which guy?” And off he went. My dad walked straight up to Braxton and asked, “Are you single?” “Yes, sir.” “Do you want to dance with somebody?” “Sure.” As they walked back toward me, Braxton asked, “Is it the girl in the red?” with a big grin on his face. “Yes,” my dad said, “but just remember—that’s my daughter.” Braxton finally asked me to dance, and the rest was history. We danced, talked (or rather yelled over the loud music), and instantly connected. When I mentioned that I lived in Austin, his face fell—until I quickly added, “But I’m moving back here soon!” We danced again later that night during the very last song. Much to my own surprise, I kissed him as the song ended. What was left of the bar crowd erupted in cheers, I turned around, knowing my face would be red with embarrassment, and walked straight out of the bar with my parents. Braxton was left stunned (in the best way). Luckily, he had already asked for my number. We stayed in touch, and just two weeks later I quit my job in Austin and moved back to Lucas. From that point on, we were inseparable. So inseparable, in fact, that I eventually begged my parents to let Braxton move in, and with precise timing and coaxing... they said yes! Braxton says he knew within the first month that he wanted to marry me. I knew within the first few dates.
A few months later, we were surprised with our first pregnancy. On New Year’s Day 2024, Braxton proposed on a cruise surrounded by family and friends. We spent the remainder of the pregnancy engaged, moved into our own home in April 2024, and welcomed our first baby boy, Waylon, in June. We began wedding planning with an April 2025 goal—until another surprise arrived. In November 2024, we learned we were expecting again. Wedding plans were put on hold as we focused on welcoming our second baby boy, Walker, who arrived in July 2025—just 13 months after his big brother! Life with two under two wasn’t easy at first, but it has been nothing short of wonderful and exciting as we continue building our family together. With our family now complete, we picked wedding planning back up and officially set the date. We are beyond excited to finally get married. We’ve already navigated some of life’s biggest moments together—career changes, financial challenges, moving, pregnancy, and raising our boys—and we can’t wait to see what else life has in store for us, experiencing it all side by side. ♡
