On an unseasonably warm September evening, Megan and Billy set out on their first date. Megan arrived first and asked the host if there was a reservation under Billy. The host looked at her, confused, and then asked her to wait outside. Later, Megan would come to realize this was because Billy uses his full government name (William) anytime he orders a Starbucks drink, calls an Uber, addresses packages, and- what she now knows- to make reservations. There was no reservation for Billy, only William. When Billy arrived, he clarified, and the speakeasy let them enter the premises. They had a wonderful time, with conversation about football (Aaron Rodgers’ untimely season ending injury that left Megan in tears of laughter and Billy in tears of sorrow), their love of learning, and all the little coincidences they happened to share. Hours felt like seconds and before they knew it, the night had flown by. They didn’t want it to end, so they made their way to an Irish Pub- a ritual that would soon become their favorite way to spend an afternoon together. After attempting to split a few G’s, Billy insisted on walking Megan the entire way home, tacking 40 minutes on to his own commute. The extra 2 miles was spent praying he would see her again. After a few more magnificent dates, Megan knew she didn’t want to spend a single day without Billy. So, she invited him to accompany her to Burlington, Vermont for the weekend with her family. Never in a million years did she think he would accept, but to her delight, he immediately obliged. They rented a rickety old Dodge Charger and made the 7 hour drive up to BTown. This round trip in the Charger is where they fell in love and the rest is history. On March 8, 2025, Billy proposed to Megan during a very competitive game of UNO by playing a card that said, “Will you marry me?”. Their wedding will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on March 21, 2026 with a reception to follow at the Glens Falls Country Club.
