It all started with a horse farrier. Jerry was over one day, trimming and putting shoes on Flash (my horse). I was talking to him about how hard it is to find a nice guy. Everyone used dating apps (thanks a lot Covid), and I tried that route with no luck. Plus, I hated using the apps. Not for me. (But seriously, have you watched the show on Netflix called Tinder-Swindler?! Perfect example). He came up from trimming a hoof and said, “Meg, I have the perfect guy for you. He has a good job, is tight with his money, and hunts birds with me.” I laughed and asked for this guy’s name. Alex Huiras. My first reaction: Ummmmm…No I responds back to Jerry, “I went to high school with him. He was a couple grades younger than me. Yeah…eeehhh I don’t know, I don’t think so Jerry.” Jerry was astonished and asked “Why not?!” I shrugged and told him “I don’t know, he’s younger. I don’t think I’m his type for one.” After hem-hawing the rest of the time, going back and forth, Jerry finished trimming & shoeing Flash. Packing up his stuff Jerry told me that Alex goes hunting with him. And asked if it would be ok if he gave Alex my number. I said “Sure, why not.” I mean come on, what did I have to lose? The reality was, I didn’t think anything would come of it. But that November, I got a Snapchat from Jerry of Alex, with black face-paint in full camo. WITH his phone number written in the middle of the picture. What did I do, you ask? …..what every girl does….screen shot the number! Jerry Snap-chatted me again, asking if Alex could have mine, so I snapped my number to Jerry to give to Alex. That same day, I got a text from a number I didn’t recognize. And the rest, well I think you guys can guess!
