Alex and Megan met through their service fraternity APO in their Junior year of college at the University of Maryland. Megan impressed Alex with her amazing playlists and soon after Alex started texting her. A few months later, APO held a date auction and Alex took his chance. Pledges were not allowed to be auctioned but that didn't stop Alex from asking Megan out. After that Alex and Megan were pretty inseparable. The following semester Alex went to study abroad in Denmark. After Alex got back to Maryland for their final semester senior year, Alex and Megan realized they never wanted to do long distance again and decided to move in together after college. They spent three years living in New York City. After covid and getting the best dog - they moved to Seattle, Washington. Having spent 6 adventure filled years together, Alex popped the question on a family trip to Portugal at sunrise on the beach.

Alex and Megan decided to take a trip to Europe in the summer of 2022. For the first leg of the trip, Alex and Megan were going to go to Italy alone and then would meet up with Alex's family in Portugal for the second leg. Alex had plans to propose at a castle outside of Rome but things derailed quickly after their arrival. A massive heat wave had hit the country with temperatures up to 110 degrees. Megan can barely function at 85 degrees so her only way to survive was to wake up early in the morning to explore and then again late at night. To make matters worse, all of Megan's luggage was lost and all she had to wear was a white t-shirt and jean shorts. Because of this, Alex decided to wait until Portugal to pop the question. Thankfully Megan's luggage found it's way to Alex and Megan's hotel at 1 am the night before they were leaving for Portugal. Megan was ecstatic to have her clothes back as she had an inkling that something special might happen on this trip. But in the end, it didn't matter because on the second morning in Portugal Alex woke Megan up just before sunrise to take a walk to the beach. Megan begrudgingly got out of bed in her pajamas too sleepy to think about what was happening. When they got to the beach Alex got down on one knee and said "You know why we're here". Alex and Megan laughed and the rest is history.
