Adrian and Megan meeting was serendipitous...to say the least. Lol. A guy from Baltimore and a girl from DC (destined to be lovebirds) first connected over a request for office help and a calendar mishap. Seeds of friendship and a blossoming love story all began with a joke about a pair of striped socks and a beautiful smile. The weds-to-be met several years ago when they were both state employees. Megan worked in Howard County as an office secretary & Adrian worked in Anne Arundel County as a supervisor. The Howard County office was often short-staffed in the spring, and the Anne Arundel County team would routinely assist in a pinch. To coordinate staff support Megan reached out to Adrian to setup the coverage schedule as his team was tagged to help out. April coverage was smooth sailing. May coverage was not so much. Why? Because Adrian mixed up the dates. Megan's Story: I remember Adrian and I speaking on the phone and he confirmed he would send people from his office to support in April and May. I remember thinking he seems so well spoken and down to earth. I bet if you ask him what he remembers it's one of his team members coming back to him saying, "We need to steal Megan. She is so polite. She has a beautiful personality." The first office coverage support went well, but the second time was a disaster. Adrian gave me the wrong dates to his team. Appointments showed up to my office for appointments & no one from his team was present to meet them. I called his office and as always, Adrian picked up the phone bright eyed and bushy tailed. I was not a happy camper, because I got in some trouble for the mix up. When Adrian answered the phone I asked, "Mr. Tyree where are your employees?" Adrian seemed confused. When I explained the schedule dilemma to him, he sighed and said, "This is my mistake. I will fix it. I am on my way." As soon as Adrian walked right in, he jumped right to work. That did not matter much to me, because I was heated. If you know me than you know that I have a mouth on me. During his first break Adrian came to the front office to apologize. Adrian walked in very smooth...fixing his tie. I was talking to two other co-workers when he spoke to everyone in the office. "Hello everyone", Adrian said. Someone asked how he was doing? Adrian replied. "Living the dream." As he approached my desk I looked him up and down and with a straight face said, "Why do you have on women's socks?" Everyone looked down and started laughing. He smiled and replied in a playfully stern voice," These socks are from the men's side of Express!". I said "well, someone must have placed them there because they have to be girls' socks". His response was "I'm sorry you are mad, but it was an honest mistake." After that he never wore the socks again, but our friendship blossomed into a relationship and here we are now waiting for you guys to RSVP to our wedding. Adrian: I want to clear one thing up. I kept wearing my socks (lol). They were my lucky socks! That said, I also remember everything about the office coverage fiasco. I felt so bad about the mix up. I jumped right into action to remedy the situation. I looked forward to meeting Megan because I had heard so many good things about her. To my pleasure she was everything that I heard about polite, lively with a warm and inviting personality. When we met in-person for the first time I was immediately struck by Megan's bright, beautiful smile. I made it through the work day & handled the sock joke like a champ. As chance would have it, Megan and I would begin working together once a month which gave us an opportunity to get acquainted. Here are a few of fun facts that we do agree on (colorful socks notwithstanding): Express Men does actually have a colorful sock collection One of Megan's close friends went to college with Adrian We both love Asian cuisine Coffee and hot tea can be equally as good We are so delighted to share our special day with you!
