Megan & Adam

Things To Do

Here are some of our favorite things to do in DC! - Explore the National Mall and all of the Smithsonian museums and monuments. - Head up to Woodley and Cleveland Park, where Megan and Adam have lived for the last few years and some of our favorite places! - Visit some of DC's more unique museums like the Postal Museum, Spy Museum, or Hillwood Estate - Enjoy some of Megan and Adam's favorite restaurants, there should be something for everyone. Everything on the National Mall, all of the Smithsonian museums, and the zoo are free to enter, you will have to pay for parking and it can be difficult to find, so we recommend walking, taking the metro, or using a rideshare to make it easier.

National Mall

Washington, DC

Most of the major monuments are here, with the exception of the MLK Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial which are around the Tidal Basin.

National Portrait Gallery

Northwest Washington, DC 20001

This is where we got our engagement photos taken! We highly recommend spending some time in the Atrium and visiting the presidential portrait exhibit.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History

Hirshhorn Museum

7th Street Southwest, Washington, DC 20560

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Come visit the zoo and see DC's newest pandas! Tip: if you're taking the metro, get off at Cleveland Park and leave from the Woodley Park station (it will save you from a walk up the hill). There are also some great restaurants right across the street.

Rose Ave Bakery

2633 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Our favorite bakery in D.C. and worth the line! If you’re heading up to the zoo, this is a great space to stop on the way.

Duke's Counter

3000 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Directly across from the Zoo, the burgers are the best in the neighborhood. Quick and tasty spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Byblos Deli

3414 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Our favorite Greek restaurant in Cleveland Park for a quick bite - Adam says, "try the grape leaves!"

Unlike the Smithsonian museums, this one does require a paid ticket.

Smithsonian National Postal Museum

2 Massachusetts Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens

4155 Linnean Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Former home and estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post, heiress to the General Foods Corporation. Diverse collection of art and finery coupled with expansive gardens.

One of our favorite places to get breakfast near the venue! We recommend the Pharmacy Special or the Frenchie.

St. Anselm

1250 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Specializes in conventional diner classics, despite the name; a premier destination for all things pancakes, eggs, and burgers.

Jaleo

480 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004

Modern Spanish cuisine by José Andrés in downtown D.C. Sangria is excellent, but pitchers can be deceiving.

Another José Andrés restaurant downtown serving Mediterranean fare; great for any meal!

Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)

1600 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Covered open-air beer garden, an excellent place to enjoy a cold pint on an unseasonably warm March evening.

Ivy and Coney

1537 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Local haunt for Detroit Lions superfans, serving authentic Midwestern classics. The only place on this side of the Potomac to enjoy a Chicago Dog with a shot of Malort.

Board Room

1737 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

Located near Dupont Circle, boasts a robust collection of board games and lagers. If you text Adam he'll probably come by to challenge you to a round of Scrabble.
