We met in Lawrence, Kansas, at the University of Kansas — on the college Bollywood Fusion dance team. (Megana’s dance career ended after a solid four-month run, while Soham stuck it out a little longer.) Even though there was always a spark, we really bonded in the atrium of the KU Engineering building — not exactly the most romantic place, but it turns out fluorescent lighting and group study sessions work wonders. From those early days of friendship, it wasn’t long before everyone else could see what we were still figuring out. Fast forward almost eight years together — four of them long-distance — and we’ve shared countless FaceTime dates (thanks, COVID), more miles traveled than we can calculate, and an impressive record of competing in endless Game Pigeon mini-games. Soham proposed at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. It was supposed to be a surprise… but Megana, being Megana, picked up on the plan almost immediately. (Turns out Soham’s not cut out for undercover work.) Now, after all the late nights, time zones, and video calls, we’re most excited to finally start this next chapter together — and officially retire from being long-distance pros.
